What book or philosophical movement will actually allow a man to stop giving a fuck about societies expectations of him?

I know men who can barely afford basic life necessities but would pay the price of a decent car to get hair transplants just so they can continue feeling attractive enough to women. Why should this even be relevant in a man's life? Why should we give a fuck?

Even for people like Elon Musk, that can easily pay for beauty treatments like this, why is achieving a level of recognition and fame scientists and inventors could only dream of (even when he is just saying stupid unfeasible pop-sci shit) not enough? Why does he, and all of us, know that he wouldn't be recognized and respected if he looked like his old self and didn't date some top model and rode fancy cars?
