Is there an online community where I can post my writing and get feedback?

Bump, I would also like to know
I'll critique some of your writing, anon :)

There really needs to be a writefag general on this board. Idk why there isn't.

Seriously. /lit doesn't count because it's not consistent. Sometimes there's a critique thread and other times we'll go weeks without it

no one critiques in good faith cause it is all failed bitter writers here, they will trash it no matter how good it is

I've found most people on here just like to read, and talk about how many books they've read, or their favorite philosopher, or whatever, but very few people do any writing. Critique threads exist every now and again but it's mostly people seeking praise and you rarely get good feedback in them. Threads like "describe this image in your finest prose" usually are just for laughs and you rarely get serious attempts. Then you get people posting their own stuff in a new thread seeking feedback and those get pruned pretty quick. Basically IMO /lit/ is for readers. A splinter board for writing only would be fine by me.

I've been tempted to start up a consistent /crit/ general thread with a proper OP format, rules, back/forward linking and all that jazz. I may do that now, but I'm not sure I have the gumption to autistically keep up with it forever so I hope other people may be willing to pick up the slack after a few threads.

Anybody know off the top of their head what /lit/'s bump limit is?

not OP but lets say I put up writing here and then I get some good critique on it, ok, fair. But then I decide to publish some part of it in magazines and they just happen to reverse search the work back here on 4chan, big no no.

If you want to get your writing trashed post it here

It won't be constructive, it'll just be like "lol gay" "your writing is so emphatically dumb because "insert personal opinion""

It'll at least be provocative, and if you're a lonely person you might share in a sense of their despair, and longing for understanding human sociability

If you want actual advice I would look IRL, but you probably wouldn't be here if you weren't a black sheep of some sort

>consistent /crit/ general
My problem with /crit/ is that it seems too focused on just "post your shit and anons will judge it" I feel like a writefag general would be a bit more generalized where folk can actually talk about shit and not worry about being good.

Then make the thread yourself, brainlet

>> No.14981131

Online communities are echo chambers that only value stuff that makes sense within their group. I'm not saying that's bad, you just need to find a big enough community (sci-fi fans, furries, 30-year-old women eating salad) that you can get the feedback you want.

It's almost as if, if you were to say anything decent here, that no one can respond to, they would say nothing at all and your thread would die.

A few weeks after that, a watered down version of your thread topic would start popping to be memed on by based boys taking the positives of what you were trying to say to their polarized dialectical end points, eventually provoking the opposite reaction from other based-boys who would destroy the strawmanned example in question with blind indignation.

It's a shitty place. Don't put your pearls before swine, and I mean that as a lament.
