15192913 No.15192913 [Reply] [Original]

Let's be real here. George made this shit up as he went along. The first book is full of plot holes. Character motivations are never consistent. The only thing that makes this series interesting is the political intrigue in the style of Frank Herbert and the obvious real world historical similarities.

Since the first book, "A Game of Thrones," Martin has written himself into a hole of plot holes and short stories that don't tie together. Now he has spent 10 years unable to wrap this trash together into a coherent end.

Let's face it, the game is over George. However he concludes it (if he concludes it), it's going to be nothing more than disappointment begging more questions than answers. It's straight up bad writing hidden in a bunch of superfluous writing to make you forget what the hell is going on.

Can someone recommend me something like Game of Thrones but actually good and without all the smut? I like the idea of many families with a history in their lineage competing for power.

Same way you know what Damascus steel is despite being 100s of years removed from when it would have been truly impressive to see Damascus. And that's just a lil fancy carbon, now imagine that fucking dragons made Damascus ofc you would know about it.

I fucking truly despise this fat, repulsive shitstain. I could tell with him as an "ok" writer, adapting to the NORMms of his times to make a few shekels, fin. But to ACTUALLY COMPARE ONESELF TO TOLKIEN IN COMPLETE EARNESTNESS, THAT IS WHEN I BEGAN PRAYING HE GETS RUN OVER BY A VUS (GRANTED IT WOULD HAVE TO BE A COMPLETELY FULL BUS TO MOVIE HIS 500 LB OF GIRTH).
To see that fatm repulsive shit sitting and a stage adndm with ironym comparing himself to Tolkien was more than I could bear, Tolkien is the sort of genius the European races peoduce every ~300 years or so-- he fought at the Somme, he was an Oxford Professor oF Nordic Languages, he was....in the mould of the last of the truly great 19th century academics.
For that fat, sweaty, pif of a Man Goerge Marin (who manages to write HIMSELF in the person of "sam" into all his terrible books, which storylines he lifts directly fronmByzantine history counting on his audience knowing so little of Eastern Roman History that these few will be drowned out by those who know NOTHING.

Funny how he is critical of Tolkein and says Gandolf should have never been resurrected when it's pretty clear and I'm assuming almost a given based on the tv show, that he brings Jon back to life.

>> No.15197750

If there wasn’t a tv show you midwits would all be screaming about how good it is because firstly 1) it is good and 2) you can’t possibly disconnect what you read from your own shallow judgement of how far away from the “mainstream” your goodreads list appears to anonymous people on the internet. Go read “story of the eye” and be really weird dude no one really cares .

I could tolerate him as a mediocre novel writer, and I should have an affinity for him since him grew up close enough to me thay I literally couuld have hot him with a gold ball had I been born....35 or 40 years earlier.
He has-- and will always have--- that chip on his his shoulder his his father was a longshoreman and he never got out out, my father was along shoreman and I DID manage to get out: to harvard, oxford, and USC all on scholarships. So of course he has to try to make it his lie's mission to shit on Tolkien, apparently not realzing that he was orphaned at age 12 and raising his younger brother, and fighting at the Somme only a few years later.
He also doesn't seem to "get" that when Tolkien went to oxford, ir was based COLELY on merit and nothing else. There was no affirmative action or ant of that sort of trash. Tolkien became a professor at....what, I guess it was 15? Solely based on that fact that he was a genius and had absolute mastery of all the Nordic languages.

That part hasn't come yet, you're probably speaking from what you saw in the show. I think it's heavily implied that, even if Jon comes back after being stabbed, he won't be the same. We've had resurrections before, look at Lady Stoneheart. (Catelyn). Lady Stoneheart is a walking corpse with no compassion whatsoever. It's not like in the show where the characters just wake up again like nothing happened, death has passed through their character.

It's the Finnegan's Wake reference minefield treatment of Tolkien, plus "what if HUMANITY's the real Lovecraft monster!" boomercel 'social commentary' hippie shit plastered over a middle-low fantasy setting. His prose is just tiresome -- and within these bounds its fine -- the mass 'cultural reception' has blown it out of all proportion to its merit, to the extent it has any.

A handful of percocet and half-a-handle of Jim Beam tends to impacts one's grammar my sweet, sweet friend. I truly love how you accuse me of LARPING. I came out of Adams house, but it doesn't matter, you can believe as you wish. From there my scholarship from Oxford (no, not a Rhodes Scholarship, though not saying which it was) and then from there to USC.
It's mt fault for even mentioning it, and I only did so for the purposes of demonstrating that someone who grew yo literally less than 2 miles from him could "break the class barriers" if willing to make the effort, which he obviously was not willing.

>Are you a female poc?
Yes. I'm a negress who believes that negroes are superior since negro skin absorbs more melatonin.
To paraphrase Dr. Pierce, I think it would take 3 sturdy men each armed with a 2x4 to help you get your thinking straight. Martin wants to be Tolkien so badly that he has even adopted for himself his 2 middle initials.
In 300 years-- assuming the chinks or the Israelis have not destroyed the earth-- Tolkien will be remembered in the same way that Shakespeare is remembered. Fatso Martin won't even have the place of Christopher Marlowe, nipping at his heels. Martin fordn't rven have the right to speak the man's name, nor does the Scottish Welfare Mattress Rowling.
Tolkien is a once-in-300-years genius. Despite hating teaching and despite having no interest in it, Oxford was willing to keep him on simply because they recognized he was so brilliant that he was worth keeping on in any capacity.
To have that big fat pumpkin head Martin appear in videos entitled "Tolkien's Greatest Mistake" makes me physically ill. He doesn't
t have the right to spit shone the man's shoes.
