what do you prefer and why?

Ebooks because I'm not a backwards boomer

>> No.15266896

Printed books because I like to feel the pages in my hand and I can quickly traverse to the pages I want to read. I use an ereader though out of convenience and frugality.

>> No.15266919

Ebooks because I don't like hoarding physical books.

>> No.15266948

Physical, I like the sensation. Feelings the pages, smelling it, seeing my progress.
It's also very useful if you're writing about the book as it's much easier to jump back and forth between pages

>> No.15266991

>>15266948
Yeah fully indexed and hyperlinked epubs with word search, instant bookmarks, text highlight and google bar are so damn inconvenient. I prefer good ol' bookie 'ere cause it smells of rotten wood

>> No.15267008

Physical. How else would other people know what I’m reading?

>> No.15267027

Doing a comparative paper is 1000x times easier with physical as long as you're not a brainlet

This. Reading with an ereader beats paper books in every way except having a bookshelves to show off your wisdom and muh book smell

This is why I get my philosophy and math books in printed form. My eBook reader is filled with shitty fantasy books that make me happy.

Physical, but if I had the money, I'd drop $500+ on a proper ereader with a big enough screen and a fast enough processor to handle scanned PDFs and never look back. I don't think I could completely give up having a library of physical books, though. It's too good of a mnemonic device.

I tried to read ebooks on my cellphone, it wasn't the same. I don't like it, I don't really enjoy reading digital books, a tablet or cellphone can't replace the sensation of a book. I don't have that problem with comics.

pdf's becuase I am paranoid and like the fact that no one knows what Im reading unless they open the document and know the password.
Conversely I like to project the text onto my back wall and then blow up the text so i can read it from afar doing various things

I like physical better, but I've been pirating most of my books on my e-reader for the past couple of years. I like downloading weird old books from Internet Archive.

Ebooks are not a permanent record. They can be edited remotely by the publisher and/or the government. Which is totally unacceptable for me, so I usually buy physical books.

There are readers other than the Amazon Swindle.
I've got a few years old Kobo-reader that's never been connected to the internet. They would have required an account but there are workarounds that allow to use it as just a simple reader, not as a store-front/publishing route.
Gutenberg is awesome and even new books you can find pretty quickly online.
>>15270183
Amazon actively removes books from people's devices. Funniest thing is they did it to 1984 once.

Always physical, unless I'm broke then I'll read on my pc. I want to get an ereader eventually for random papers and books I can't get my hands on for a reasonable price, because ereaders beat computer/phone screens.

The thing is my visual memory is impaired when reading e-books because every text looks the fucking same. With physical books every book has its own layout which helps me retain information better, I guess that's how my autistic brain works.

Physical books: more pleasant experience, remember the content better. Expensive or have to get them from a library (labour)
Ebooks: convenient, free (unless you pay or them), easy to check the definitions of new words (particularly useful for foreign language books).

I like both
been reading on a tablet rather than an ereader though. ereaders seem like aids with the black flash, also bad or no browsers on ereaders means no webnovels unless the author makes a epub or whatever out of it, which in the case of the current one I'm reading they don't
