He was absorbed by how different life could be when innovations and luxury were stripped away. The little details he thought of, like stoplights limiting freedom and urban control under law, were interesting but they represent how extremely deep he dug down, a narrow pit. Goals that inspire murder are discredited by how impractical they're seen. To some his goals may have repelled them from conventional living. i actually partly agree! the leftism part was in the beginning of ISAIF. Because it was printed in a newspaper, he had to keep it short. In hindsight i think the leftism part is supposed to act as a filter, because he didn't want them to be part of his movement. In the end of ISAIF he critiqued the left again, this time much more cool headed, more mildly.

The only person who has articulated a semblance of argumentation regarding TK's similarity with Freud and Nietzsche is me (I can prove it, google Kaczynski Freud Nietzsche and zero relevant results come up), and I did not do it to delegitimize his works, quite the opposite really.
