It is written about so often in European literature and the theme of a sacred cup appears very frequently even outside Europe in other cultures (Egypt, etc.)

If it didn't ever exist in some way, why would people have written so much about it in the past, especially in a way that makes it seem real? Yet at the same time, if it is real, has it truly not been found, or is someone hiding it?

The Holy Grail is the same as the Philosopher's Stone: An allegory for spiritual transcendence by means of internal Alchemy.

i hear that at one point there was a cross people were saying was the one jesus was crucified on but it got stolen when the city was sacked and got moved to irak if i remember right. that happened , i forgot when , probably a few hundred years after jesus died. was probably a fake wonder what happened with it . too tired to search for references.

It could be an "emerald" jewel that fell from Lucifer's crown as he was cast from heaven. It's likely moldavite, a green stone that came from the heavens. The stone was made into the emerald tablets as well as the holy grail. Moldavite has a unique texture that looks almost like it was naturally engraved. The grail was not a grail, but a stone. Lapis exilis.

"Lucifer was said to have claimed the emerald and set it in a crown. The crown was destroyed when Lucifer fell to Earth from Heaven. Apparently, the stone had survived. It, being the source of Lucifer’s power over Alchemy, was said to have split into two parts. At first, Lucifer pursued the two fragments of the emerald, but gave up. Then, human beings found them and made them into a tablet and another object which eventually became a cup."

The word derives from Celtic and is ultimately related to "creel" or basket container, originally that which contained the severed head of a conquered enemy.

I'd heard it was supposed to be a sort of covered meat pot rather than a cup. Could be wrong though.

Yes. Jesus was historical person and he did drink from some cup before dying. Thus grail exists, or atlest did. Does the cup have magical powers? I dunno.

No, it's an invention of French romantic poetry in the middle ages. It was originally it was a dish, in any case.

take any contrast that you can think of.
the more impossible it appears to transmute a thing from one domain into the other, the more access to a holy grail is required.

Did it exist Yes. Does it still exist doubtfull. Consider that even finding the cross that Jesus was on was a miracle, it was left in a cave for centuries. Now imagen a random cup in a house in Jerusalem, almost no chance of it being preserved.
