Epicurus whole thing was about maximising pleasure by minimising pain. Since pain is defined in opposition to pleasure (or, in another way he defined pleasure as the absence of pain), this meant avoiding pleasures like sex and shit so as to avoid the highs that bring lows. Pretty basic stuff, can be found in any into text.
