This is the best Houellebecq book. Undoubtedly his best written. He struggles with writing compelling female characters, but Valerie has a personality and isn't just a fuck doll.

Not sure if I agree if Platform is his best work, although it is a good one.

I don't think he struggles with 'compelling female characters'. I think Valerie being a complex character means that he can write complex females when he wants to.

Platform was a good read, although strangely forgettable.

It's the only one of the novels I haven't read. Of the ones I have, The Elementary Particles and The Possibility of an Island are my favorites.
