It's v good. Do yourself a favor and note down the main characters you encounter along the way (the text name-drops so many goddamn characters), it makes things much more coherent. Get yourself a Moss Roberts translation. The CH Brewitt-Taylor version is now in the public domain, so that's the version that most online retailers will stock.

The CH Brewitt-Taylor is not quite as lyrical, and character names are translated via the Wade-Giles System, while Roberts uses Pinyin (admittedly, this isn't as big of a deal if you're not learning Chinese).

If you Google around you can find blog posts that dog into the differences in how select passages are translated across versions.

That particular edition is excellent aside from some typesetting errors. I have their Outlaws of the Marsh and Journey to the West as well. The Japanese version of this shit is the Tale of the Heike, which is also great

Is The Three Kingdoms the most accessible starter into the 4 Chinese classics? How does it compare to the others in terms of readability?

Outlaws of the Marsh is easier, its almost genre fiction. RotTK can be very formulaic, almost to the point of feeling like a list. If you read Water Margin, the Pearl Buck translation, its pretty casual (but that translation is notoriously bad, although very fun and stylistic).
