If I have to give a book suggestion, I always recommend Pedro Paramo, it's probably my favorite book. I also love Borges' Ficciones, Confederacy of Dunces, anything by José Emilio Pacheco, and if you feel like reading a Mexican revolutionary novel I would suggest Los de abajo by Mariano Azuela.
