They were silent in their condemnation, or in the underlying motivation for the incident, though they mentioned the incident here, here, and there.

The press is the single most evil institution that has ever existed in the history of man

>> No.16494976

You've missed the point. The media can still print about events, but it's about how they frame the events. That's what manufacturing consent is. Omission, inclusion, etc. all affect perception.

It's pretty clear that in addition to corporations people like Noam Chomsky(academics) do a lot of manufacturing consent themselves.

>> No.16495010

One small press reports, another highly circulated lets it go to the back pages one day, wording it carefully.
Wikileaks however is delegitimized as somehow not a news source. It’s editor and founder tortured for years for publishing what others have.
The murderers of those people, including journalists, in Iraq are still unidentified.

How many times have you seen the Pilger documentary about the coming war with China?

Have you seen those academics who say they’re an “expert on political extremism” or “expert on the far-right”? It’s just political activists manufacturing legitimacy to attack people they don’t like

Except this applies to all communication. It's shallowdeep. It's ostensible profundity is undermined by his childish politics. Language, symbols, et al always and necessarily obfuscate the truth they attempt to correspond to. It's a feature of finite, mediated systems like languages. You could argue that the application of these notions to politics and press in an erudite fashion is important, I guess (though his conclusions are certainly faulty). This has been implicitly understood for a long time. It's Info-Wars level insight anon.

This book cries out for a contemporary update for the digital media space.
I mean, look what happens whenever someone with forbidden views is deplatformed. Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and the rest all revoke their profiles almost simultaneously. It's as if there is some central committee between the CEOs of these companies that votes on what to do about the internet. There almost is some secretive group between all these companies leaderships so that they can create they can divide power up between each other.
