Perseus goes on his epic to defeat Medusa, but he cannot look Medusa in the eyes or else he turns into stone. To do so, he uses a mirror shield to cut off the head of the monster.

The statue is completely misrepresenting the myth. It’s about viewing aspects of you inner, dark monsters in order to “chop its head off”. Why is it that Perseus uses a MIRROR to kill Medusa?

So then what exactly is this statue trying to describe? That your inner monsters should slay your inner hero because, as the artist herself says, “how can triumph be possible if you are defeating a victim?”
