It's a French satirical book from the Middle Ages in which a donkey becomes king of France and then the most powerful man alive, he marries "Lady of vain glory" and they have many devilish children. Of course everyone bow to him as a horse of power. It's in verse and I got the text in Old French so I'm really enthusiastic about it. Currently going through the (very long) introduction.

this arrived today so this is my stack for now.
i have had it on my list for ages but finally got around to buying it.
it's the only real book about godward. i see his pictures posted on here occasionally but he is largely forgotten.
the book was expensive, but it is beautiful. the binding, the paper, the reproductions of the paintings all appear to be excellent.
i am looking forward to spending some time with it over christmas.

Mine has like 120' of shelves and 4 big 4x4 bins of books. It's interesting to see the selection. Probably 30% are your standard women's trash grocery store tier books. 25% are hardcover biographies, mostly political. 20% religious. Rest are random.
