Sure, but if you have fewer social interactions you'll be less likely to develop proper social skills.

I can definitely see the allure of home schooling, since the current milieu and mainstream messaging seems, well, evil. And the teachers of young children are mostly women, and therefore impressionable this stuff and spreading it on to the children they teach. That said, social adroitness is probably the most valuable gift you can give your child, and that's less likely to happen if they don't spend their formative years around many other children.

Teacher (male) here. The whole "kids become spergs if they're homeschooled" thing misses the point. Historically kids were socialised just as part of a normal day. They interacted with people of all ages in various different contexts, work, church and even just playing. Kids today are so badly atomised that we can only ever incidentally get them socialised through school aka industrial child warehousing. School has the same dynamics as prison. It breaks down along racial, cultural, clique and popularity hierarchies. It is all about staying on top for some and staying out of sight for others. The social dynamics of school do not in any way prepare you for real life, where for instance, there are actual consequences for your actions. School is a brutal place for most people because they're locked in arbitrary cohorts and forced into useless routines. As I say, it has more in common with prison than anything else. A child is more likely to pick up anti-social than pro-social tendencies in schooling. By home schooling you are putting your kids on the edges of society. They will never have the status and rubber stamps needed to get ahead. I believe a better quality of education can be provided in small groups or to individuals, but this is not the world we live in. My advice to anyone reading this would be to send your kids to a private school if possible. Do not allow the state zog indoctrination to get to them. Failing that opportunity, just try insulate them from public school as much as possible. Even to the point where you tell them to largely ignore certain subjects. Because regrettably in the historical cul-de-sac we're in there is no alternative right now. I'm a teacher because I want to try tip the scales just a little bit in the opposite direction. It is a losing battle

The curriculum needs to be completely redone. The orientation over the last few decades has been ostensibly towards making school more and more about "what you're gonna need in the work force." You see it in the OP's video with the Q&A tards. Traditionally, in the British grammar school system etc. there was an emphasis on values and physicality. Yes, you need to know how to read, write and do mathematics (funnily enough those scores plummet year by year with our current progressive technocrat led curriculums) but there is so much more. I believe in two seemingly contradictory things 1. The value of the old school emphasis on order, the classics, rote learning, sport and religion 2. Almost Montessori style holistic learning. So the practical changes I'd make would be a bit all over the place but that is where my reasoning comes from. I believe Britain had an excellent education that produced heroes and visionaries - so it can't have been too bad, until the 1950's onwards. I also believe it had some failings by being too rigid and these can be corrected by synthesising the seemingly at odds holistic approaches. Off the top of my head a few things I'd implement would be
>Pivot back to learning classical languages, great literature, great poets and "1066 and all that" sort of history not the social science scatterbrains approach to history we have now
>Emphasis on pushing limits both physically and intellectually. Think Gordonstoun
>Make teaching a prestigious position in society again (yes I'm self interested) by removing all the tramp stamp Stacey's from teaching your kids To Kill A Mockingbird for 7 years. Actually force teachers to have some life experience too rather than hiring 27 year olds who have only ever known part time work + study + living at home. I believe children are well within their rights not to respect many of their teachers given how low quality they are
>Finally, but it is a broad stroke to make - make the goal of education to be to develop someone fully as a man or woman rather than helping them choose what busy work career they want. This is why stuff like poetry isn't superfluous at all. Let's make a generation of whole, confident and assertive citizens not passive, bored, consumers

I mean it is optimistic to think this will be the direction for the masses. I am vary concerned by the trend towards the weird black american racial narcissism and political and gender wackery in schools. Even Eton isn't immune to it. Regrettably that is just going to keep going until it hits a hard wall somewhere I think. My vision would be for financially independent schools to either be established or for previously established ones to be recaptured and then set on this course. It will be a balancing act trying to push for reforms while staying kosher with the state mandated requisites though. The one thing we can do is use these schools to pass on knowledge, attitudes and values that should hopefully then make it through to the other side of this historical moment we're in.

>> No.17047689

I haven't worked in schools in over a year but this zeitgeist doesn't seem to be shifting at all. Teaching as a profession is practically a vocational course these days, with a myriad of training programs like TeachFirst and SCITT providing a pipeline for any idiot desperate for an easy career path. The exams are getting easier, the tedious pointless busywork of peer assessments and book marking getting more numerous, and the students being placated to more and more. Teaching for the test is the core pedagogical practice in British schools with little deviation. Intervention for those who are struggling is rote and mostly unsuccessful. Support for the brightest is non existent. More specifically for this board, the very subject of English is being devalued day by day. I honestly feel that there's a good chance literature won't be on the curriculum in ten years time.

People laugh at you for getting buttmad about twatter or back in the day tumblr blue hairs hot takes. But they really are crystal balls. Stuff that in 2014 was exclusively obsessed over by /pol/ and only existed on tumblr is now policy. Twitter libs today are fairly regularly saying stuff like "why do we have to learn Shakespeare its boring???" and "ummm these old books by dead white males are racist much???"

There is basically no attention to grammar these days but it still kinda kicks on in a token sort of way. I don't think literature will be totally gone they will just substitute Shakespeare for "How black folx built Britain (which is also a racist entity)." We have to shut down American cultural influence it is going to destroy us

He seems to have been a pretty alright teacher. Certainly not harmful by malice or negligence like most teachers. I think he may have been a bit into the Peterson shit which is cringe. But look, you'd rather the "self author your way to a 330kg deadlift" teacher than "Becky has a hangover so its free time today" teacher. Especially if you were paying Eton fees. Basically, the headmaster is a weasel who while I don't know much about seems determined to push Eton along the new elite power path. I.e. American woke politics. His house is in the village though
He will not see me stopping there
To watch his woods fill up with snow

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep
But I have promises to keep
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep

There are certainly a number of things taking place. One thing to consider, and I’ve seen one study on this, is the effect that the opening of additional professions to women has had on the quality of teaching. That is to say, highly educated women previously had fewer career opportunities, and so became teachers because it was acceptable. Perhaps now these high ability women pursue more lucrative careers elsewhere, say in law or medicine, and so the quality of teachers has suffered. This likely is only one part of the problem, though, but a part nonetheless.

Perhaps. I’m not sure if that’s how it was working in her mind, but who knows. She curtly dismissed the study of kings, as though it was trite knowledge of individuals without acknowledging that these were the most influential figures in the country at their given time. It may not have been a racial thing so much as she didn’t understand how much influence men like Henry VIII had on history in England. She is right that people would benefit from a study of history (particularly since human motivations don’t change much over time), but failed in understanding the importance of the monarch historically as though it is some form of trivia or something.

One thing that I have never understood, is that this takeover of British politics and culture by what is essentially black American racial narcissism (and everything educational moving left year by year) has had little to no resistance.

Many of the people who are aware of this are -- to use a Marxist term -- essentially just proletariat, and there needs to be a vanguard to lead them. I know all these modern developments are generally following the trends of Western societies, but brexit bazza from a former mining town or right wing Steven who sits in his room posting memes all day, aren't going to be the type of people who form resistance in the institutions against this.

Basically what I'm saying i am surprised and annoyed that there are fewer 'Hitchens' out there to stop the Americanisation.

this is what Jordan Peterson was talking about.
Proper study of the social scienceses is quite important for social movements.
Since the left now controls the ideological agenda and the BBC has been super leftist for an age, but too few on the right realised what was happening

Americanisation comes in the form of film, teevee, music, social media, celebrity culture even fashion and food. It is so insidious and unstoppable that their insane racial hysteria just seeps through in the same channels. You would have to go full East Germany (or maybe Iran) mode to quarantine Americanisms or a regime to treat them like the pathogen they are. Enoch Powell and ironically to a lesser extent Heath are the only modern people from the British right to understand the threat America is

>>17050242
>>17046945

This is a good reason why.
Peter gets away with a lot of things because of his Trotskyist youth, his experience in the Soviet Union, his uncompromising anti-racism of the colourblind variety which he can back up with a history of activism, and the fact that he's willing to be left wing on non-cultural issues like railways and healthcare.
Peter Hitchens is basically the nice guy that means well but that you strongly disagree with, and this is why he gets invited by the BBC and put on a panel with 5 New Labour-types, so that it can seem like the BBC is allowing a broad spectrum of voices.
It's not easy to find a niche for oneself like that. And even so he is hated, protested, deplatformed and all the rest.

And all I loved, I loved alone
Then-in my childhood- at the dawn
Of a most stormy life was drawn
From every depth of good and I’ll
The mystery which binds me still

From the torrent, or the fountain
From the red cliff on the mountain
From the sun that found me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by
From the thunder and the storm and the cloud that took the form

I met a traveler from an antique land who said:
Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
stand in the desert Near them, on the sand
Half sunk a shattered visage lies whose frown
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command
Tell that it’s sculptor well those passions read, stamped on these lifeless things
The hand that mocked then, and the heart that fed
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is ozymandias, king of kings. Look on my works, ye mighty and despair”
Nothing beside remains round that colossal wreck.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
