17068744 No.17068744[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

>"When hugged as a child, [Ted Kaczynski] squirmed instead of hugging back. Later on in adolescence, he stiffened when being hugged by his mother. It was as if Ted's way of relating obeyed a different set of rules. Unable to fathom Ted's internal physics, Dad eventually gave up, whereas Mom preferred to believe that Ted's sensitive inner self was normally loving, only hard to reach."

>"Kaczynski [...] lacked even elementary social skills. Russell Mosny recalls one of Kaczynski's rare dates. [He] borrowed his parent's car and took a girl to a movie. A half hour into the show, he excused himself and walked out of the theater, then returned [...] thirty minutes later he left again, then returned. He repeated these mysterious exits twice more. But the last time he did not return. After the movie was over, the girl found Ted waiting for her on the street. "Where have you been?" she asked. "I parked the car at a thirty-minute meter and had to keep putting nickels in," he explained. [...] "I ran out of money for tickets to get back into the theater."

>"His supervisor was Ellen Tarmichael, a soft-spoken but no-nonsense woman [...] Ted Kaczynski became interested in late July 1978. He was 36, and she was 29. [...] They had two dates, Ms. Tarmichael recalled. She said he seemed intelligent and quiet, and she accepted a dinner invitation in late July. It was a French restaurant, David said, and Ted "ordered wine and he smelled it, he made a big deal of it." David added, "He had a good time." [...] Two weeks later, they went apple-picking and afterward went to his parents' home and baked a pie. That was when she told him she did not want to see him again. "I felt we didn't have much in common besides our employment," she said. "Ted did a total shutdown," retreating into his room [...] He also wrote an insulting limerick about Ms. Tarmichael, made copies and posted them in lavatories and on walls around the factory. He did not sign the limerick, but his relationship with the woman was known." He remembers contemplating suicide by hanging at that time, and then describes that he became full of rage and instead decided to take a knife and mutilate the woman. He proceeded to the parking lot at the work site and got into her car. At that time he changed his mind and again felt very sad.

>"In the summer after his fourth year, [Ted] describes experiencing a period of several weeks where he was sexually excited nearly all the time and was fantasizing himself as a woman and being unable to obtain any sexual relief. He decided to make an effort to have a sex change operation. When he returned to the University of Michigan he made an appointment to see a psychiatrist to be examined to determine if the sex change would be good for him. [...] As he was sitting in the waiting room, he turned completely against the idea of the operation and thus, when he saw the doctor, instead claimed he was depressed about the possibility of being drafted. He describes the following, "As I walked away from the building afterwards, I felt disgusted about what my uncontrolled sexual cravings had almost led me to do and I felt humiliated, and I violently hated the psychiatrist."

>Ted's thoughts on modern men from his Montana journal: "What every woman wants is a Man, with a capital M. In other words, a man who has balls, not merely in the literal sense but also in the figurative sense. In Western culture, a woman's ideal has traditionally been "a knight in shining armor." [...] But the knight in shining armor no longer exists in Europe. The samurai has disappeared from Japan. The fierce nomad no longer rides across the Eurasian steppe. [...] And who has replaced these true Men? Behold modern man (small m): He sits all day on his fat bottom, punching keys on a computer. Terrified of losing the "job" on which he is helplessly dependent, he cringes before his boss, invents petty subterfuges and little lies to conceal his errors and his trivial misdeeds. There are no true Men left; or rather, such true Men as remain are in prison. [...] Is it any wonder that feminist[s] have lost respect for men? Or that they resent men for failing to be Men after whom (however vehemently they deny it) their hearts yearn?"

>"[Ted] describes at length his inability to figure out whether or not he was attractive to women and references a passing comment of a friend of his family's at the age of 15, that made him believe he was quite attractive. […] At times in his writings, he focuses, in an extraordinary amount of detail, on passing or short lived relationships or potential relationships with females. This is illustrated by his discussion of his relationships with (REDACTED) when he was 10, (REDACTED) when he was 16, (REDACTED) when he was 17, (REDACTED) when he was 32, "Ms. Z" when he was in graduate school, and (REDACTED) when he was 36.”

>"aside from his mother, who doted on him as a boy, there appears to have been no substantive relationship with a woman in all his life"

>The court psychiatrist: "it is evident that he has repeatedly developed idealized romantic attachments to women with whom he has little familiarity or contact. These women, for the most part, are unaware of the degree of his attachment. That he has maintained these idealized attachment over extended periods of time, is outlined extensively in his writings. It appears that the onset of this disorder for Mr. Kaczynski was in his early 20s. It is likely that for many years he has intermittently experienced exacerbations in the intensity of this disorder. Those periods have been preceded by prodromal symptoms of depressed mood, insomnia, increased distractibility, and intensification of sexual identity problems. "

>"Before his arrest he’d had almost no experience with women, as he confided repeatedly to his diary. The opposite sex confounded him: What did women want? How did you know when they liked you? Why was it so hard? But as a notorious serial killer, he attracted the interest of women, dozens of them, who wrote him to say how handsome they thought he was. They called him “Teddy,” sent him provocative pictures, told him about their sex fantasies and begged to visit him. One woman, in a letter sent to Kaczynski’s attorneys, even proposed marriage. [...] The letters shocked him so much that even though he rejected the mental health profession he wrote to a psychologist to ask if he thought the woman might be mentally unstable. “Can unresolved anger lead to sadomasochistic sexual impulses?” he wrote."

Literally me. Kinda, I put my arms to the back, extending them like wings. Except I also did it to friends and anyone who touched me. They'd run up to me and hug me, and I'd push them back and pat myself to get rid of the germs. I was always incredibly polite but I didn't like being touched. I looked at them with disgust and dusted myself off. You know, maybe there's a reason why at some point everyone stopped talking to me until I was left roaming the halls alone and only some girls would take pity and talk to me. Although I reckon they just wanted to sweet-talk and humiliate me later, and also make me help them with their exercises. Fuck them, I wasn't going to give those thots anything for free.

Why do incels always say shit like this? It's not as if during the middle ages, everyone was a cool knight that would fuck bitches all day. The average man was some poor peasant that was weak and powerless against the people he was working for, just like the "modern man" he describes. Wow, it's almost as if the overwhelming majority of human beings were subjugated by a system throughout most of history.

I know his whole thing is "agricultural revolution bad", but don't then try to make a medieval europe vs modern day comparison, because the average man was equally cucked in both.

If Ted's IQ wasn't so well known and he didn't had a good academic career in such a serious field as math; his manifesto and his story wouldn't nearly be as well known and he would have been forgotten or at best recalled as what he was a mentally ill autist and a poor man's Ellul.

People only know him and sympathize with the idea they have of him, because they see him as a "deep, misunderstood and edgy genius" just because his IQ is known.

Also "Industrial Society and Its Future", isn't groundbreaking, deep or insightful; another reason people here like him is because he trashes leftist, while conveniently forgetting that he calls conservative marveling over technology stupid.

One can understand without being able to execute.
I could watch a thousand baseball games, analyze them frame by frame, read up on the techniques of the greatest hitters -- but put me at the plate against a good pitcher and I'd strike out every time.
On top of that, one can argue that conscious understanding can only come from someone unable to execute. If you're immersed in normalfaggotry, you don't understand the system, you just act via instinct, things come natural. But if the proper instincts aren't drilled into your brain from birth, then you have to put in some effort in order to acquire them and exist in the world around you. Even if you aren't as successful as someone who was normal from birth, you still have a more thorough, conscious understanding.

befriend a high functioning, high IQ schizophrenic and you will learn a lot of interesting things. but only in bits and pieces. their worldview as a whole week be distorted and false, usually structured in a way so that they themselves feel like less if a complete fuck up / loser.
Ted is that. So are a lot of these venerated philosophers. A couple good ideas at the right time, a trainwreck of a life, and an incoherent worldview

Schizophrenia is just one failure mode. There are other types of losers out there who are capable of constructing coherent worldviews, such as high functioning autists and the plain socially awkward. Using schizos as a stand-in for all those cast aside is inaccurate.

what is your point? autistic people know the secrets of the universe?
If you are not neurotypical, you can be slightly useful for an outside perspective. If you cannot parlay that perspective into a functional life, your ideas are best left at fodder for higher functioning individuals. most of today philosophers listed were freaks, and their complete visions all seriously flawed. Philosophy is a freak show. Ted is mentally ill and had a few interesting ideas... already expressed by Rousseau and that Ellul guy. His behaviors discredit his worldview as a whole though. And his crimes were abhorrent enough that we could simply erase him from history, learn from similar, better philosophers, and we will have lost nothing

The original post was >>17072802. It says
>If you can't function like a normal human or understand basic relationship dynamics, why should i listen to you or give any credit to what you say about society and people?
I argue that people like that can provide valuable perspectives that are worth listening to.
Keep in mind that this is little different from
>If you cannot parlay that perspective into a functional life, your ideas are best left at fodder for higher functioning individuals
but said more charitably. Although I might be misunderstanding what "left as fodder" means in this case. In my view, an idea can either be utilized (to some degree) or tossed aside, and using an idea as fodder is the former; the original post argued that the ideas of the non-neurotypical should be wholly tossed aside.

I'm not autistic but I genuinely don't know either. Of course, he could've found a better place to park, but what to do if you've already fucked up and parked next to the meter?
Maybe he could've avoided paying the theatre ticket upon returning by explaining to the cinema cashier that he parked next to the meter. Did American cinemas in the 1950s REALLY require you to buy a new ticket every time you re-entered the building during the same film projection?
