>"Capital demands that we always look busy, even if there’s no work to do. If neoliberalism’s
magical voluntarism is to be believed, there are always opportunities to be chased or created; any time not spent hustling and hassling is time wasted. The whole city is forced into a gigantic simulation of activity, a fantacism of productivism in which nothing much is actually produced,an economy made out of hot air and bland delirium. "
Irrefutable.

Capitalist Realism is a much better critique of capitalism and does it in a much shorter page count than this dreck.

Unironically based. Just a shame that the world will end, before late late late late captialism does. There's no point in reading theory outside of larping and cope.

It's not trash. If anything he touches on the idea that it's not just the economic deprivation that makes neoliberal capitalism suck, but rather that it also hollows out the family, culture, religion, art, community, etc. which is a critical element that is missing from the typical Marxism critique that only focuses on material conditions.

Kapital is a force. Think that you can somehow control it is like thinking you can tame a wild beast and that it won't maul you the first chance it gets.

The climate has changed and will only get worse.
The air you breathe is polluted, as is the water you drink.
Monsanto has wrecked your neurotransmitters and endocrine system.
Social atomization means you’ll never live in community like you’re evolved to.
Your ability to focus and think has likely been decayed by the internet and the ethos of constant entertainment.
Your biggest window into the world for most of your life has likely been commercial art, leaving you bereft of actual meaning.
The logic of Capitalism has eroded your humanity. And you’re so deep in it you can’t even see it.

Art has always been commercial? What is this modern delusion that art somehow exists in a vacuum from the economy. Artists have needed to eat since I dunno the birth of art.

Ghosts of my life was good only for its thesis on hauntology and past futures. The rest of the book was about jungle music.

Pic related is a book that extensively covers the exact idea that OP's quote talked about. I just finished it recently. Pretty great read.
