Is it worth reading or just far-fetched nonsense as often claimed?

it's a fun read, maybe some of it's a reach but it's still informative, his serial killer book is his best work

McGowan wrote a book claiming the moon landing was faked. Also he's dead now

I read somewhere that Chaos by Tom O'Neill, covering much of the same as Weird Scenes, is far superior and nowhere near as conspiracy laden as McGowan.
Is that true?

He confirms what McGowan was writing about years ago.

From what I can tell O'Neill's book is just about Manson and implying Bugliosi covered up facts in that one case... McGowan goes farther and is implying the entire counterculture was an intelligence operation because so many big names had military/intelligence family backgrounds.

>>17356463
You're not really right on that, book starts with Mason and that's the central point but it goes kinda off the rails later on
Not sure why you would make this post if you haven't read the book

He has some interesting interviews online, I think some with Alex Jones but I can never find that/those ones sadly. He seems like an interesting guy, I believe he died recently sadly. RIP.

It's both. Since when is something not worth reading because it is far-fetched? A lot of weird, far-fetched shit happened in the Canyon and in the 60s music scene generally. But read it for entertainment, not for reference.
