>At last! I've reach my own brother, may I procure a few of your oats? Yesterday or the other day perhaps, I did not end my famish for the reason of only waiting for the pitiful oats. And now they are here. Will you give me handful, oh my dearest brother?

For how much longer will you hassle me, brother? You proclaim a great hunger that your own procurements could not sate, yet you presume me to no less starved? To beg for my oats—knowing that in my generosity I will bend—and depart me from my rations you are killing me, brother. By my kindness and your greed you murder me! So I will say it only once, brother, only once because it is all my self preservation and pride will permit: You may not have any of my oats!

>I glance you two appear to be in quite poor feed my dear Cousins. Haha. I believe I could lend you a some of those oats which I call my own. I just procured them an hour ago from the market place of here Swineshire--intended to feed on them myself, but it seems you are in greater need than I of any sort of nourishment. I do not expect you'll ever be able to afford interest at your girth. This shall be a gift. May good fortune be with you, lads. Toodaloo.

Myself and my brother would sooner be reduced to the tainted soil in which these oats were grown than accept the gifts of a swindler ne'er-do-well and villain such as you. I see my words have pricked your ears but not your heart, for you know they ring true! You need not come back, I shall feed your generousness to the birds—hopefully they grow ill and one falls dead into my trough.

Here I offer him--see my cousin, regard in passing, with highest hoggish decency, I say, oats to thee, but he flaunts his ratted thinness so unsightly about before me, throws my swell oats to the brids, these light pests. My spirit curls in protest!
>These oats were enough to feed ten piglets threefold, people, wonder at the yonder pig nights of full flood feasting done without regard, a whole fortnight, and you push them away, for what?
>For a tattered cloak of pride which I paint to be no noble spirit, rather arrogance!

He means no derision as he only has the greatest respect for the esteem and wealth you have found yourself, and considers you a great entrepreneur of handsome philanthropy. Please grant him this magnanimity and do not hold him in such sour scorn.
>And of course I implore our good neighbors—all of whom my brother has been a friend and peer of—to remember the great and humble generosity of my brother in days past! >The company down the yard are bickering once again brothers, it seems to be a matter of oats. I shall play them a ditty on the keyboard, in the graceful expectation that I might ease the temperament
>Forgive my presumptiousness brother, but I take it you will regail us with another rendition of a tune I have implored you to reduce the rotation of in recent months
>Brother please, I have endured the vacancy of that piece ever so dilligently in repsonse to your wishes, surely in return you will allow me the pleasure of this occasional recital, especially when the mood is so fitting
>Fitting, or perhaps ungracious, as to play 'Private Eyes' by Hall and Oates in response to an argument about oats could be seen as ill mannered by our audience
>Perhaps brother, but since the theme of the lyric is not that of the oats in question, I daresay the others will take the melody at face value and merely benefit from our benign entertainment

I know you harbor resentment for us when we casted you away, and we were wrong to do it; but cousin, your ill deeds have long reached our ears and prove us righteous in our prejudice. Now our family is in ruin and you would see great poetry in becoming the benefactors of your pure blooded cousins: But I'll have none of it! You live this day only because of my mother's courtesy to our uncle: were we truly iliberal you would have been smothered in your pen. Perhaps you think I envy your fortune or regret our cruelty in casting you away, but you would be mistaken; I pity you, cousin, that we did not kill you that day when we might have preserved your soul from being as tarnished as your humors. I disagree, the plot was excellent and very engaging while the dialogue was hilarious and a joy to read, though, I agree, it was at times subpar and unnatural (like it was written by some ESL in the 18th century.).
I get that the format is intentionally supposed to be verbose and strange (brother, may I procure some of your oats?) but I recommend the author of this oatpost takes some time to read some books from the 18th and 19th c. to get a feel for how people actually wrote and talked back then (it's easier to caricature something when you know how to realistically sketch/mimic it).
All in all, 7/10, would read again.

The process may strike you as derivative at first, but anon manages to further the moral reflection of the original work to new heights. Lively new characters are introduced, much to the reader's delight. The overall structure is superb and the climax will sink deep into your stomach. While it may not be this year's grandest work, it is a fine addition to a growing genre that certainly has much more to unravel in the future. 3.5/5

Why does the means in which the oats were procured matter? The swine starves, he will die if he does not eat. His cousin has presented him with oats. What fool thinks it is more noble to chose to feed the worms than it is to feed himself? Who would give up the gift of life, that which God Himself had given to you, and that which his own flesh and blood, a boar he had abused and injured since he was but a piglet, had gone out of his way to preserve? Where is the nobility in this? This is but cowardice and pride, this swine is nothing but a sinner! He claimes his heart is purer than the boar, but he has surely confined his soul to hell with his vanity!

Pride is noble. The brother would not allow himself be reduced and indebted. He would be desecrating his family's name by not living (or dying) with honor. But with his death he knows his brother can live on their earnings alone. There are many interpretations of the piece, whether Cousin was truly a fiend or it was just eldest brother's upper-class prejudice, or even if younger brother was correct, that elder pig DID indeed revere Cousin and it was his starved mind and wounded pride that had him lash out. Whether the pigs were right to abstain from the half boar's gift is open to many interpretations.
