Allright I will check this out I love history. I always wanted to read about the spanish and their conquest in Mexico. I always wondered how they managed that while they were so few.
Is there some other books that you found about that topic that would interest me? Could be with the Inca in Cuzco. Cheers anon.

The journey of Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca seems like another interesting account, though Ive yet to read it.
I have not read much about the conquest, but I also find the time period and the events that transpired there fascinating and horrific. I would try to find some wikipedia articles and the like to kind of frame the events that take place before you dive in, there are some recent books I read on the topic but to be honest I couldn't finish them as they bored me and just sought to flesh the authors theories on why such and such took place because of newly discovered information in the field.

Have you read it in Spanish? I know a little of spanish and I master French and English. If there is any good books about the spanish conquest that are in French let me know.
Since I am French I can read Italian and understand 60% of it while not knowing the language but with spanish I could understand around 30%. French to spanish is really different to french to italian.
