What are some books about learning how to be happy?

>> No.17908436

Are you asking for Self-Help books? The only one I can think of is "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck". Mind you, I haven't read it completely so I can't really say how effective it is.

No, save a lot of time and money, get the same psychological effects by meditating. (This is scientifically verified.)

Based on the meta-analyses I've read there is not a huge difference between focus meditation, mindfulness meditation, and transcendental meditation although there's some minor differences in exactly which parts of the brain change in exactly which ways. FM seems to have a bit wider impact than mindfulness so I would go with that (paying attention to breathing, eyes closed or visually fixed on something, 20 mins 2x a day). Transcendental meditation tests well also, but it costs a bunch of money to get someone to teach you it, so not really worth it imo... although from what I understand you just internally repeat a "nonsense word" that isn't "aum." They have a bunch of specific ones based on your age but that's getting too close to astrology for me personally. I suspect it works basically by the same mechanism that FM does.
