> For a long time I frequented courtrooms solely to contemplate habitual criminals, their superiority to the laws, their readiness for ruin. And yet they are pitiful compared to the whores, to the ease those women show in the dock. So much detachment is … disconcerting; no amour-propre whatever; insults draw no blood; no adjective is wounding. Their cynicism is the form of their honesty. A girl of seventeen, majestically frightful, replies to the judge trying to wrest a promise to keep off the sidewalks: “I can’t promise you that, Your Honor.”
>One measures one’s own strength only in humiliation. In order to console ourselves for the shames we have not known, we would have to inflict them upon ourselves, spit in the mirror, waiting for the public to honor us with its saliva. God preserve us from a distinguished fate!

>he wants to willingly ingest cope
There is no 'optimistic' philosophy or interpretation of scientific study because the based layer of reality is fundamentally disgusting to our social brain or Spirit. What you really need to do is go through the stages of purging all the emotional responses you have to your own actions (and thoughts) and seek a indifferent equilibrium. This requires hacking down all cope and staring the brutality in its face. If you do, you join the few, the noble otherwise enjoy bringing yourself and those around you back into the cycle.

Whether or not a philosopher makes you sad or unhopeful about the universe is not on the philosopher, but you. It's up to you to find the collection of theories which make you happy; one could say that that's the entire point of philosophy. Whether it's Christ as many of the other posters had said, some of the Greeks, or the French is entirely up to you.

I hope you the best anon.

Any philosopher that are religious are optimistic by nature. I recommend Sufis like Ibn Arabi and Imam Ghazali (Alchemy of Happiness).
In my opinion, the love of life is an extension of the love for God that created the universe. And thus, the love and hope for God will cause the love for his creation, which are the expressions of him, thus life itself.
This may be too religious, but its an option if you are willing to explore such a thing.

Nietzsche is more optimistic about life than he is depressed about last men
The reason there aren't more famous optimistic philosophers is because most people who popularise philosophy are neurotic nihilists who are desperate to feel some sort of community with other neurotic nihilists who can't stomach life. So you really have to read between the lines and look for the good stuff yourself. The Greeks, such as Plato and Aristotle, are actually quite optimistic, if a bit stiff-necked. I've always liked them for that reason.

I don’t think Spengler himself would agree with me, but Spengler’s philosophy is in reality ambivalent but can be seen as optimistic or pessimistic depending on the context and the length of time you look at him at.

In the current context either at the late fall or early winter of western civilization it’s easy to see this as pessimistic, but when I culture becomes truly so corrupt and decadent that the lives of those inside it are hurt isn’t it a good thing for it to fall apart? I guess you might still be pessimistic seeing as how the betting man would gamble the full collapse won’t occur within our lifetime, but it might for our children or children’s children. As well new civilizations will rise in its place. Spengler already took the care to provide us with a hope in the distant future. Russia. Of course this will eventually decline possibly a thousand years from now, but again something else will take its place.

I don't think that this necessarily requires that one not maintain an overall optimistic outlook. It becomes enthusiasm and anticipation rather than cope. Be prepared not only to respond to the worst case scenario, but to take advantage of the best case scenario. It was said after ww2 that the difference between successful, ace fighter pilots and the rest could be seen in how they prepared for action. The less confident non aces would check that their chutes were packed properly, their boots tied well, fiddling with personal items, etc. In contrast, the aces were more preoccupied with maps of the area and the guns of their planes being in working order and loaded. In short, don't just run from failure. Chase after success.
