Slow Learner is terrible, but it does serve the purpose intended, you get a fantastic view of his evolution as a writer and you can probably learn more about writing from reading it followed by his first three novels than you can get from any non-fiction books on the topic. I wish more authors had such a well documented evolution.

All the portuguese versions are extremely expensive, out of print, or were never printed. For example, Laws, the three volumes in the portuguese edition, are 60€. That is the value of the "Complete Works"
>>18378972
Yes, quite. It is four volumes organized by Umberto Eco; the texts are almost always not his (which I appreciate, since the man, most of time, can't get modern politics out of his head). They pretty unbiased, going so far, in a passage, as to describe the role that napolitan jews had in the mediterranean slave trade of the middle ages (spoiler alert: they were the main traders and promoters of it). Overall pretty good, really need to get my hands on the last two volumes.
Tell us about your books, what are they about? I only recognize Shakespear and Flaubert.

Were the texts written originally in Italian? I might try to snatch a copy too.
>Tell us about your books, what are they about? I only recognize Shakespear and Flaubert.
They're mostly Latin American literature. The ones on the left are mostly contemporary except for Salarrué (a Salvadorian costumbrista writer) and Valencia (who ha been getting attention for political reasons). Other than that Felisberto Hernández is a sort of wandering Surrealist writer from Uruguay and Luisa Valenzuela I feel is one of his followers, although her work is much more political. I'm most excited for Palinuro de México though, is the first Mexican book I know of that follows the style of Gargantua et Pantagruel, of which I'm really into. Gamboa is one of the better-known Naturalist writers to come from LatAm, I've read 3/4 already of the book and while I can appreciate it's not really for me.
