Right it's literally too late for paleoconservatism. It doesn't even make sense to talk about it from a non-historical perspective. The tail end of that was Paul Gottfried's stuff (which didn't make this list anyway). So read the 90s' books all you want, learn about how the system defused that by having the Clintons come in with a third party libertarian to split the right wing vote (this is going to happen again soon by the way). Things will keep moving left. We talk about equity now instead of equality. So to my original point, these books are not some edgy threat to anything just by reading them; they've been read for years.

>> No.18426345

As far as I can tell, "tradcath" refers to someone who "discovers" traditional Catholicism and gets really into it, but you can tell their interest is superficial and mostly a compensatory mechanism for having no deeply-held values of their own. They will be super-into being "Catholic" for maybe 6-8 months and then lose interest and move on to something else and do the same thing with it. As you say it doesn't really apply to Nick Fuentes since as far as I can tell he's just a Catholic who takes his religion seriously. However there's a certain other type of anon who overuses terms like "tradcath" as a blanket insult directed at anyone who has beliefs of any sort. Again, it's a sort of compensatory mechanism for people who have no values of their own and feel empty, but don't know what to do about it. So, they go around denigrating anyone who does have beliefs in order to make themselves feel better about staring at porn all day and masturbating.

No. Fuentes chose books like Decline of the West because they give off the impression that Fuentes believes that the west is heading to ruin (even if he doesn't apply the argumentation that those books used).

I think it's possible that he read a couple books. Probably Death of the West and Clash of Civilizations. But that's about it.

Evola is a very well known thinker, most people who know about him don't agree with him, but you're giving 4chan too much credit to say it dominates his readership.

Nietzsche is undoubtedly a figure of the Right, I never said he was literally right wing, just that he is considered essential by most to understand the spiritual roots of being right wing.

You're both retarded and can't stand the fact that someone reads one of the most famous books ever written.

>he's said repeatedly it's his favourite book and has recognised quotes from the book when randomly superchatted to him? No he's just faking it to make everyone think he's read it!
>and even if it's true I need an exact video sauce now!

also, nietzsche and evola are pretty opposed. it takes a fair bit of effort to reconcile them, the only way that comes to my mind would be to not take evola at face value in his esotericism and spiritual/religious beliefs, which are very critical to his thought. if evola is a prophet in the same sense that nietzsche is a "prophet", hes simply a dollar store nietzsche that doesnt go nearly as far or as radical as nietzsche in his philosophy. if his spiritual insights are supposed to make him a prophet in a non-nietzschean, genuinely religious way, then he has nothing in common with nietzsche except for a respect for similar value structures (e.g. ancient hinduism or something)

>> No.18428340

>>18428279
Who says Fuentes' understanding of Nietzsche is "right wing"? Naturally any real understanding of him will be more subtle than that, but what is a truly retarded understanding of Nietzsche is to say he isn't more "right wing" (emphasis on the quotation marks) than "left wing", any kind of spiritual background to being right wing, whenever that term takes on a more eternal sense, for the most part can be found in Nietzsche. The emphasis on hierarchy, power, individualism, aristocratism, and Antiquity, of which the latter was interpreted by much of the 20th century as defining an ultratraditionalism, radically traditional as in prior to Christian morals;--it is a going back after all,-- and may be a brash terming, is not entirely wrong.

look, i just dont think fuentes reflects a serious engagement with nietzsche. anyone can read nietzsche how they like, but the problem i see with a lot of right wing readings is that they confuse the new nietzschean superman with the old prechristian 'lions' of antiquity. but no, you can be right wing and like nietzsche. i just dont think somebody who really likes nietzsche would like to be part of anything labelled right wing OR left wing. and fuentes is strongly aligned with the right.
>>18428356
>>18428366
evola and nietzsche just happen to be big memes for the right, what im pointing out is that they always appear next to each other as if they have a similar core. hating modernity but in a non-economic (non-marxist) way. i feel like the right aestheticizes nietzsche too much and doesnt critically engage with him enough. i just think the right's nietzsche is very neutered and tame compared to how powerful his ideas really are. nietzsche eclipses ideology. but by all means, be right wing and like nietzsche. i was right wing and liked nietzsche. i still like nietzsche and am no longer right wing.

>> No.18428426

to add, nietzsche's idea of 'power' is very different from the right's idea of 'power,' where for nietzsche power is will and its expression and for the right power is contained in already-existing ideological value categories. nietzsches power is creative, original, destructive of systems, and irreducible to ideology or category. he values artistocratism and antiquity for (apparent) different reasons than the right, which sees aristocratism as having inherent value and antiquity as being *ideologically* superior to modernity. nietzsche isnt arguing we should return to antiquity, i think for him thats impossible.

this doesnt sound like nietzsche at all. this is again mistaking the superman for the lion. hes opposing the (nietzchean) ideas of two opposing value systems, the christian/semetic vs. the prechristian/presemetic. but nietzsche adamantly does not approve one over the other, he only understands them. his vision for the future is wholly, radically new and different.
>appealing to morality
no one who genuinely likes nietzsche thinks the problem is that we have the 'wrong' morals.
again and again, the right thinks that nietzsche values the inverse of the christian value system, which is a common mistake but deeply wrong.
