I turn 30 in August. It feels weird. I've got a job and a gf of three years ... she wants kids and marriage, and I just don't know if I do. I fuckin overanalyze everything. And I don't have nearly as many friends as I used to...they really start to wash away as you get older. I have no sense of community. Oh well, I suspect everyone feels this sort of way now. I am constantly working on my writing, painting, film, and music projects. Today I'm working on a large grant application, for instance. I come here to shitpost and procrastinate, which in my old age I've accepted is a natural and inevitable part of the creative process.

Sure we love to joke about our status as “the asshole of the internet” but come on, admit that you’ve had decent laughs at the memes, effortposts have stuck with you, the recs here can be amazing and you’ve been exposed to so much stuff you wouldn’t have otherwise if you had stuck to the little corner of the world you inhabit or even the mainstream web.
Rather than rejecting it outright you should incorporate /lit/ in a way that doesn’t disturb your everyday life. Might as well guess used to it.
