Alright, by consensus, what mythos do you draw the largest parallels from the Judge for. Gnostic? Islamic? What?
For me it's the Hermetic Christian mythos of him being a walking embodiment of the spirit of fallen nature

Most americans are incapable of reading that he rapes his sister, Phoebe, so instead they go for the trivial graphic violence. Also they're incapable of understanding the class basis of American Psycho to the point they think Bateman actually works. Sep munts are dumb cunts. Couldn't read their way into a paper bag concealing a longneck of VB at 7.30 in the morning.

Because it's the literary equivalent to Scanners, and McCarthy is great at writing violence and pastoralist scenes

As a midwit writer, could I gain anything from reading it?

If so, I will!

Midwit is a misnomer midwits use to label others while also being a real phenomenon. Just toe the line on open-mindedness but stick to yourself and you'll be largely outside of it being applicable to you.
There are two forms by which something becomes art; competence by way of how it's composed, or symbolic depth and execution. I would argue that Blood Meridian of all McCarthy's works holds both, but if your style of writing is on the leaner side, yes, it will.
