I'm writing a Gilbertian Operetta after Patience about Waldun and his friends or rather the Waldunian movement as a whole. I got the idea when he said he felt like Oscar Wilde. It will be performed in yellow-face of course, just as Gilbert and Sullivan would have it.
Your thoughts? Based or Gay? How do I go about writing such an operetta? Don't even have the title yet. Any musicians here btw?

I remain somewhat gobsmacked that this dude is going on about this branding exercise of being a writer despite not actually writing anything. I mean, he's so well-developed. His photos are all good quality. His outfits are chosen very carefully. He clearly hires someone who knows about photography. Yet he has nothing of note to his name as far as writing or poetry. Even his attempt at making himself a brand seems to be falling flat, because I've literally never heard of him before coming to /lit/. He doesn't exactly trend on Twitter, you know? Does anyone actually know who Waldun is, anyone who matters?

First, write out the storyboard, then write a full libretto, then get the musicians in.

The yellow face thing could work, especially as Waldun writes all of his characters as white. Even when he avatars himself into novels, he turns into a white guy

it's pretty clear that the main character Arthur is Waldun himself. Arthur likes all the same books and authors as Waldun. For example, there's a scene where Arthur has a recital at his piano teacher's house and he plays Mozart's K 545 or something. There's also a clip on Waldun's Instagram of him playing Mozart's K 545.

In my pic, Arthur is on his first and only date with his waifu. He took her to an Asian tea house and the waitress speaks Mandarin and no English. The only words that he recognizes are "xie xie" and Arthur/Waldun attributes that knowledge to the time that he studied Chinese poetry with his white English lit teacher, Mr. Morton. And not because he's fucking Chinese himself.

it's an amazing book. Every passage consists of Arthur doing the things that Waldun does, and the secondary characters exaggeratedly praise him. This pic is from the passage where Mr. Morton tells Arthur that he's dying. He has kept all of Arthur's typewritten writings from high school but bequeaths them back to Arthur. He is so sad that he won't be able to read Arthur's writings when he's dead, that he weeps all over the papers.

btw when Mr. Morton finally does die, his niece Gretel sends Arthur a letter informing him of his death, but that message only takes up 5% of her letter. The rest of it is her telling how great Arthur's taste in literature is, won't he please teach her how to write, she's going to paint a picture of their first meeting because she was so inspired by him, she loves his essays, please write more essays

That's also reference to this in Learned Disguise where Arthur talks about a meek son afraid of his father. Don't remember the page number but you can do ctrl f for "meek". This would be an interesting opera in the style of Chicago, with the main character interpreting real events in a stylized daydream format

Lmao that dude is a faggot but he's based.
Look at this comment on the video
> I knew R.C. Waldun during high-school, and it's very easy to jump to criticism and insults for the book, but there's a lot of missing context behind it. He was writing the book during his last 2-years at high school, and from what I know, it was a fun project for him to try and write and then publish a book while studying his final year at school. From what I figured, he never planned for it to be this publically available, let alone reviewed on the internet, it was a fun adventure for him (what from what I know). I just thought it's worth knowing that R.C. Waldun has come very far since then, and I see a lot of people discrediting his channel and even him as a person, just because of something he wrote during busy high school life. It makes sense he's selling it now because he knows he's a known creator in the space, but knowing him in person, he's well aware of his flaws. By no means is he arrogant or pretentious in-person, and I don't expect him to be any different now.
> I do think everyone is giving a lot of hate for no real reason? The book was written way before he became popular on YouTube so he's not trying act like someone he's not, and that's the point of his channel, a journey of learning and knowledge with his viewers.

I should add that the opera will feature """4chan goons""" echoing Waldun's fears and self-doubts. They are faceless men who are never seen but they are heard laughing and mocking Waldun throughout the operetta (they have their own song, a leitmotif) and provoking him. They appear in the middle of the play and provide a stark contrast to Waldun's initial audience who adore him endlessly; indeed, they are endlessly cruel and call him a faggot pseud they also want to fuck him. To make matters worse, KDBooks publishes a crushing review and he must save face by gracefully taking the criticism—inside he is seething. He briefly contemplates if his father was right, but in the end he musters up the strength to publish what is to be his chef-d'œuvre, l'academie (it flops).
It is something of a tragicomedy really.

Jieso are the graffiti artists of Melbourne and they primarily paint on trains. After the failure of Learned Disguise, Waldun made a new project: he was going to write literature about the uniqueness of Melbourne. Of course, he said that the one thing that makes Melbourne stand out from the rest of the world is its clothing. Waldun quit his job, which I doubt he needed anyway, and went to the city to """"watch people"'""". Like he's never seen these kinds of people before
5:20 he goes to the dingy corners of the city
At 6:30 he goes to a sketchy area
