I picked up Fire and Blood a few months ago and it was so absolutely and unassailably based that I immediately started reread game of thrones, up to Storm of Swords now. How are these books so fucking good bros? Literally every chapter is an absolute banger with huge impact on the story and ends in a page turning cliffhanger. Absolutely incredible.
Grinds my gears how many people think he ain't writing Winds. 10 years is not that long a time to write a book as good as these books. It's not a crazy stretch of time at all, especially when you consider like three of those years were spent on Fire&Blood and the rest of them were spent being distracted by HBO executives and random offers all flashing millions of dollars before his eyes. What is crazy is that he wrote the first three books over a span of like five years. That's absolutely insane.

Chinese are retarded and suffer from same ills the rest of the world, where the popular stuff is usually just bad because it has had to cater to retards to become popular in the first place
The amateur writer sites also suffer from qidian being total cunts, if you become popular qidian effectively owns the IP and you still have incentive to keep writing for the peanuts they throw at you. There are some stories from qidian that are genuinely good, even after translation process, like release that witch but they just turn to turd pile after couple hundred chapters because it's clear the writer lost interest by that point and keeps going for qidian yenpennies

While we're on the topic of amateur writers, anyone here read spellmonger and liked it? I haven't read the last book, but I feel like the books strayed way too much from what they were and the writer just keeps beating dead horse, even if the story itself is somewhat entertaining. Amazing, overall my favourite Fantasy series.
Due to being so old it is ultra generic and traditional. Classical heroes's journey, rags to riches and all that. Conflict mostly containable in good vs evil.
It comes with one flaw, the book is glacial. The pace is so slow that there are philosophers that are easier to read.
However apart from that the execution is perfect, and the pacing gives it some extra weight.
Pretty huge in Germany. Williams said about this series that he wants to write the kind of stories you tell children, written for adults. It gives it a certain Grimm's Märchen feel, which is in high demand here.

Yes, I think the large battles in the beginning and all the generals were op, after that it felt like mc just started to disregard all previous story, all male characters, actual fantasy and adventure and the whole premise of spellmonger and started following females instead, the whole plot development regressed to females and became very progressive, female centric and sjw, in the last book I read at the very end when he said 'I am going on this big adventure' and then the last line was his useless sjw roastie of wife saying ...'And I am going with you', I felt at that point that I was patient and it is time to drop the series because it will only get much worse and any further reading will completely ruin it.

Was actually the official version
Needed footnotes to explain what the original actually meant, instead it just turned into this confusing frustrating mess

Unsurprising. Your pet monkeys must be defended no matter how much it blurs reality.

The average is irrelevant, if you read tiny little books you get more, if you read doorstoppers you get less.

I imagine that if someone goes self publish route it is because they first tried trad and they didnt acceåt because the story was uninteresting, prose shit and grammar incorrect.

There is a reason trad publishing exists. Professional people are there to deny illiterate shit authors like chink webnovels and accept actually interesting books.

I would rather write my own book than read self pub

Traditional publishers are gate keepers. Yes, it's elitist, but if you wade through enough self published books you start to feel some amount of gate keeping is warranted.

No, say what you want about her, but don't forget she was a self published author on fiction press.
