now I remember that I came up with an idea on how dream interpretations could be useful
We start from the assumption that dreams are just random meaningless data. When we let someone interpret their dreams, we can can analyze how they assign meaning to meaningless stuff. This would give us clues about how they interpret the world at large, what their assumptions about the world are, what prejudices they have etc..

If you read history of philosophy, you will learn that even the most renown philosophers ran into that problem, for instance Descartes.
St.Augustine already came up with the concept of "I think therefore am I" centuries before and possible other philosophers did too even before him.
You remain proud though because you arrived at some conclusion independently, that means you are a decent philosopher at the very least.

Dreaming is just like drugs. I've come up with jokes inside a dream many times and thought "this is really fuckign genius", I mean literally you think you've come up with the funniest joke in the world ever. So you think consciously "I've got to write this down immediately when I wake up so I don't forget it" and when you do wake up and your counsciousness clears up, it's some retarded shit not even a 6 year old could make up.

The point is inside a dream everything feels so deep and meaningful, just like when you're high but you don't have the context of rational thoguht when you think those things. You probably didn't lose anything of value, the "revelation" was just a product of stoner logic that would've served a good laugh at best.

Yeah. If you read one philosophy book, you're basically reading them all. they tend to talk about the same thoughts, emotions, and beliefs repackaged in words that make them seem original.
But all philosophy is hacks. but you should read at least one. to carry out pointless conversations like were having right now.
