Waldunthuds unite to celebrate this modern classic.

>The QRD
Set in the authoritarian Hunger 1984 Divergent Games universe, "L'Academie" is a story about a man named Eddington whose daily life is dictated by The Regime. Six days a week he leaves his home for L'Académie, a four-year education program where the subjects, upon completion, are allowed to go beyond The Wall.

Wherever he goes, he is constantly reminded of the tenants of The Regime:
> Knowledge is Power
> Report any signs of Double-Rods to Prefects.

This truly is Waldun at his best. Mark my words, Wulden-esque is the next movement, classified by choppy and awkward English juxtaposed by westophilic pretentiousness. It's a post-ironic statement about our information rich yet poorly educated superficial society, where we look east but listen west; where we scorn the learned for the mistakes of the ignorant. Right now, we live in a Wulden-esque society, where sitting on a train not on your phone with earphones in is weird; where free thoughts are criminal and academia is dark.

Here is Waldun’s story of his 2-year journey writing this masterpiece: https://tube.incognet.io/watch?v=cW1ja7PC2Vc

In his latest livestream on reading critically, he says he prefers making his reviews within a week of finishing a book (He filmed his LD review 15 minutes after), and doesn't script anything. Editing is also minimal. Considering it's a very short book and he's fully aware of the demand, I expect we won't have to wait much more than 2-3 days.

Those who've recognized the repressed homosexuality in his work are few and far between (more people post about Ila Rose than they do about the gay subtext in his books). It's a shame because that area of his work is as unintentional as it is interesting (the autobiographical LARPing of the Beats having unintended ironic consequences). >>18897581

>daddy issues (centred around a strong/discerning father figure)
>preoccupation with aesthetics (notably fashion)
>refering to himself as "closeted"
>calling himself/Jay a "couple"
>falling out with the lesbo-archetype that is Saskia
>his inoffensive, almost asexual, sexual aura attracting the type of females easily associated with fag-haggary.
>refering to himself as "voluntarily celibate" before erasing that label in favor of an obvious beard (Ila Rose)

On top of all that you have the writing itself. This was meant as a joke (>>18897588) but there are plenty of other examples of it.

You can argue that it's all circumstantial but the evidence is in no way superficial. As said, it makes his writing genuinely interesting (so bad it's good usually has to have a level of sincerity to work--Waldun's is just unintentional and comes out via his repressed homosexuality).

Not the same anon. The narrative around his "partner" is unironically extremely compelling to me. There are two possibilities here- either this is an old relationship or a new one.
>evidence for it being more long term
L'Acadamie is dedicated to Ila, and the character of Ada plus certain plot points are too integral to him having a gf now for him to have made them up. Wu simply doesn't have the imagination for these things.
>evidence for it being a newer relationship
If the relationship had started over a year ago, since before writing of L'Acadamie began, there's no way Robin wouldn't have mentioned it in some capacity in his short story writing, essaying, or videos. Something just doesn't add up. Which leads me to believe...
>she isn't his gf
My fellow Waldun scholars, thank you for gathering here with me today as I posit this new theory, which lines up quite well with the HH >>18905579. Ila Rose is a patsy, not really his "gf" in any sense of the term that we know. He refers to her as his "partner" in the video, they live in different cities, maybe they haven't even consummated their relationship. Maybe, I think, she's more of a "female friend" a la Saskia, but the relationship is more nebulous. He might be mining her for romantic inspiration, but that's the extent. Which is why, I think, the anon claiming to have fucked her actually has some credibility. Robin is gay, she visits Robin, they don't have sex, she takes to tinder, and our friend in the other thread... well. The issue is proof, damned proof! All evidence so far is completely circumstantial.

People in Waldun's inner circle, I know you're lurking. Please, give us a sign.

How to read this scene? Does it disprove or support the homosexuality theory?
Is Eddington's attention due to her suggesting that she would hold his rod in her hand? Or does he simply wish that he too could grasp a rod firmly in his hands?
Does the rod going into her pocket insinuate sexual intercourse? Or subtly reveal that she's an MtF packing a rod?

https://rcwaldun.com/blog/7-weird-things-i-noticed-lately (He talks about dating apps, asking for relationship advice, and comments on male profile pictures).

Ila is Waldun's beard. It's easy to pick up on and hardly anyone has noticed it yet (i.e. there's more attention given to making fun of his faulty masculinity along the line of 'haha he's an incel'). Anyone who has experience with someone who was closeted can easily pick up on the flavor of their relationship.

Anyway, I honestly think it makes his writing genuinely interesting. He's LARPing beat poets and doesn't realize the subtext of his writing says a lot about him that he hasn't even accepted within himself. It's speculation, but I think he'll probably come out by the time he reaches his mid-20s).

But that's the thing about criticism, it lingers, it could make you a better writer, but mostly it just hurts initially.
Why do you think he tried to remove 'The Learned Disguise'? because of too much fanfare resulting in a sudden lapse of self-doubt?
Nope, some people shat on it, (one of which is this fat Welsh kike)
The thing is, subjective criticism can be brushed asunder, because their are brainless masses gobbling your knob.
Yet this isn't the main point of critique. Sure, some of us thinks he should try to write about something else than his boring life, try that gay-scene I hear it's lucrative.
Nope, this fucker tried to pass of a badly written, strongly edited yet lacking in certain parts ripoff that doesn't make any narrative sense
when you think about all of the dystopian elements put together.
Muh vibes over any clarity of ideas, just mostly hanging around in the lounge areas of would be bookstores.

And yeah, he could just pass his review of my simply ignoring that fat kike, but for him it isn't about the money, it's about how he's perceived.
When his intellect is attacked, it must feel as you can imagine horribly.
There is also a screencap of his discord out their discussing his first book, and how some guys from 4chan wrote mean criticism.

yeah probably this. I have a youtube channel and Google automatically flags and removes comments with links. It also does the same for comments that it thinks are "bad" like if you say fuck or shit. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't "s'weet" simply wrong? Waldun isn't replacing anything in the word, just adding an apostrophe to make it look like the speaker is of a foreign accent.

>> No.18909064

>>18909044
My guess is that Waldun uses apostrophes the same way he uses commas, to indicate a pause in speech. S'weet is thus pronounced suh-weet, like that guy in How I Met Your Mother pauses when he says Legen -- wait for it -- DARY

Need to hear thoughts on my review. Nothing but honestly please. 1/2

L’academie is a dystopian novel by the YouTube star R.C.Waldun. The story is about Eddington, a student at L’academie, who realises that not everything is as it seems. He lives in an authoritarian regime where students learn information passively through a device that resembles earbuds. All books are banned and the streets are patrolled by prefects. People are prohibited to do anything apart from commuting between the academy and their home, except to visit a cafe.

Further retelling of the story needn’t be done for it mostly copies that of Fahrenheit 451 with several references to 1984. What makes Waldun’s book stand out among them however, is that it raises many basic questions that go unanswered. Why is the walled off city of District-E a haven in a wasteland? What happened to the rest of the world? How did the Regime become so powerful in such a short time? Why can only so few people “really think” when they had been doing so for a long time? And finally, how does the Regime sustain itself financially? All of these questions suggest that not enough time was spent in the planning stage of the novel.

The characters are distinguished by the colour of blazer they were. However, there are rogues living in District-E who don’t wear a blazer and are successfully hiding from the prefects, despite the total surveillance. Each person speaks the same way and all that differentiates one character from another is some habit, for example, Ed’s right hand trembles when he is nervous, Fred speaks with an accent, the older rogues smoke cigarettes, the man of history is always talkative etc. While it may seem that the aforementioned differences establish a clear line between each person in the book, that unfortunately is not the case.

>> No.18909596

2/2

The pacing of the novel is simply bad. There are passages where four pages describe a short dream sequence and only one and a half describe leaving L’academie, meeting a rogue, following him, losing and finding him, climbing up on a rooftop, talking and then running from the prefects. It must be said that often times the jump in time between paragraphs following one another is quite large and makes the reader confused.

As the book is a dystopian novel with an aim to induce thought in the reader, it is not a light read. However, it doesn’t make up for it in any way. What you will consume are 298 unhappy pages, from which you will gain nothing.

The prose used in L’academie is subpar. The attention is not distributed equally between miscellaneous facts and key events. The building of the academy is described in one sentence, yet the burning of the cigarette coal is described in detail multiple time throughout the book. On the whole, the prose resembles that of a light novel.

Some words must be said about the author himself. One might find themselves surprised to find out that this isn’t Waldun’s first work. What is more, he is a literature student, avid reader and a booktuber posting guides on how to enjoy difficult books. L’academie was apparently in the works for two years, edited by a team of editors, and the final result of five drafts.

The best way I can conclude this review is by sketching the character of Waldun. His work was supposed to be released on September 1st but he messed up the amazon listing and put the paperback up for sale two weeks prior while the ebook will only be released on the original date. In his video about the book, he defended himself by saying that it was a special promotion for amazon members. He has also pulled his first book, The Learned Disguise, from amazon and his own website but not from the barnes and noble online store.

Big thanks to the anon who scanned the book shortly after the botched launch.
