It's important to you because it happened to someone you know and you're shielded from how common it is. Talk to the police, the ER staff. Shit happens all the time. If you were thinking about what you had to contribute to anything here, you wouldn't be worried about it.

To be honest, lots of things were kept even from the Soviet people's. They didn't want anyone to find out the stuff they had. It's frightening, because when the Union collapsed, many dangerous experiments and technologies were forgotten about, and we're rediscovering them now, twenty years later.

The West seems to be very fascinated with the fallen empire. Many russians are as well.

But I have many vivid memories. Sometimes the USSR could be beautiful. There was a sense of teamwork. and comradery. Everyone was your brother. Not like here. Here it is all "you're on your own" buddy.

But it was tough times. Economically, the worst times of the Soviet Union.

I guess it could make an interesting book. Thank you for the suggestion. I will think on it.

I think you're spot on about the whole large scale communism thing. One of the reasons the USSR failed in the end, was because it was such a large landmass. It must have been difficult to govern the whole thing. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but it must've been hard for Lenin, and the other fathers of the revolution.

Cuba seems to be small enough for it to work. They've made a very good go at it. I think they shocked the world. The US expected the embargo to crush them. But they thrived.
