What country is it? In Italy there is usually an experimental class where you opt in to use the natural method instead of the traditional one. From what I've seen, the experimental students end up being much better, but it may be because they are the smartest and the most motivated from the start. I mean, you must be pretty interested in/proud of your intellectual prowess to decide you want to be in the Latin experimental class when you are 12.

Also, they all admit that they drill grammar on the side.

One job.

>>18945215
Ecclesiastical Latin is plain better. It is how Latin is still a living language that underwent the same shifts in pronunciation over the centuries as vernacular languages. People insisting on the "restituted" pronunciations are role players thinking Latin only existed between 100BC to 150AD, whereas most Latin literature was made for ecclesiastical Latin, all the while having no organic tradition to that classical era. It's fine if you decide to recite Horace with hard c and overly long vowels but cringe otherwise.

No grammar, only questions for teading comprehension basically.
It’s needed because real Latin was meant for the educated and adult, so there’s no children level texts. It’s basically slightly easier Latin.

Much less. Many chapters don't have this section at all, the others have it shorter than in pars I. It's about very specific subjects.

>Ecclesiastical Latin is plain better
>it fucks up the meter
no it isn't at all. Also there are many words that are more etymologically correct pronunced in Classical than Ecclesiastical thus making the pronunciation more authentic even from a 'living language' point of view. Ecclesiastical pronunciation is just a medieval fuck up like Erasmian pronunciation for ancient greek.
That is because you argued ecclesiastical kept Latin alive, well that's wrong since Latin is alive in modern languages and as adressed before they derive from the classical / late latin pronunciation, otherwise you can read Latin as you want. There are no native speakers so it can't be "cringe".
