Why is fascism so appealing? It is because it purports to give us a purpose? To tame and impose order on this chaotic universe in the vacuum left behind by the death of God?

It attracts young people with the aesthetics of violence and glory even though fascism is just an elaborate death cult that gets you and almost everyone else killed.

It's appealing because its aesthetics emphasize strength and vitality and it channels power into ordering society progressively. It appeals to noble morality, in contrast to socialism's appeal to herd morality, although both are similar in that they are progressive and totalitarian.

It’s appealing because nationalism is appealing, and because the meta narrative is appealing. Take a look at Singapore, fascist dictatorship but thriving economically and culturally. Hitler single handedly kickstarted the rubble of the German economy before the war. It’s appeal is the cultural, it’s a catharsis after decay

Fascism projects:
1. National pride
2. Masculinity
3. Beautiful Aesthetics

I can see why people fall for it. Most Westerners are pushed to hate their countries and histories if anything, and there's only so much self-hate a person can take. Fascism offers people an out from that. Men like it because masculinity is constantly maligned in the West, and seeing an ideology which promotes and praises masculinity makes it extremely attractive. And finally... Nazis looked cool. They just did. They had beautiful uniforms, they promoted culture, etc. People who hate how the liberal west promotes ugliness like that.

I don't think it's deeper than that. It's the same motivations which inspire western leftists and the like to fawn over the USSR and Modern China. Nationalism, masculinity, and beautiful aesthetics is what they crave and the Fascists (and Communists) offer them that.

Cattlen*gger will come in here and try to tell you that Schleicher could have reaped the same benefit on account of the depression receding at roughly the same time, and the funding of works projects led by Gereke. The truth is that, without intervention, there was little likelihood of recovery.
