No. If I don't trust in their contents I don't see a point in trying to convince myself otherwise, because it wouldn't help me at all.

I would suggest trying philosophy and psychology books, because instead of listening to someone telling you how to live your life, you can come up with your own conclusions based on the knowledge gained from them.

Whether this conclusions will be useful depends on you, but I'm pretty sure it will be much more effective if you manage to find something you are actually interested in.

I learned the most from books that weren't "self help" per se.

Scared selfless- how to deal with trauma
Beyond endurance: Survival at the extremes- understanding the psychology, habits and decisions made by people that have survived extreme hardships
The power of habit-our habits are everything
Mind hunter- our behavior reflects our personality-->change my habits to change my personality

Does "The Stranger" by Albert Camus count?
It was recommended to me by my therapist who could see i needed something new to delve into.
I think the best self help books would be books that aren't specifically "self help" but rather books that, after reading them, leave you in a mindset of wanting to help yourself, it's like instinct, there's no organization and expectations, just inspiration to continue further then you originally wanted to.
I loved the stranger so read the plague, then his Caligula play, which got me interested in ancient Rome, which lead to their invasion of Britain and so on... currently it's monks and scribes or middle english literature,
but i'm also uneducated and am totally lost in what i'm trying to read, but it's all fun because it's interesting.
don't search out what interests you, discover what you don't know and see if it interests you, don't be afraid to read outside your comfort zone.
I hated fiction, and thought i'd hate the stranger, but i think i fell in love with the writing style more than the story itself... it led to books i didn't expect and the whole wild ride has certainly been beneficial.
Don't go into it thinking it'll help you, find some information that you think would be good for you to learn more about and try learning about it, see where it leads.

If you need "self help" and you're the type who would browse this board, I will tell you one thing. Everything you're brooding about is probably true and in fact it's likely worse. You seem more "normal" by shutting off your mind and tapping into the lizard brain. Pay attention to your sense of smell. And start oggling your surrounds, tie your sense of sight, hearing, and smell to your need to eat and cum. And feel frightened by things easily. Like how negros freak out at magic tricks. Become more like that, and you will make "friends" (people trying to stab you in the back, or provide cold shoulders you can play video games with sometimes and they might invite you to parties SO YOU CAN GET LAID BRO!!!! Live a little bit!!!!)

It's not exactly a self-help book, but Dazai's No Longer Human.
Seeing the life of someone I could relate to so strongly turn into my worst nightmare-- and knowing the actual story of Dazai's life-- was a serious kick in the ass for me. It made me realize that I had to make some major changes in my life if I didn't want to turn out the same way.
