There are different sorts of knowledge, and certain forms will always be limited to certain intellectual tiers of a given population. Take literacy for example, you can teach an entire population to be "literate," but what that will effectively mean is they can now read the instructions on the bag to help Chester find the golden cheeto. That's maybe fine, if you also make sure to preserve the kind of actual literacy that produces the occasional Burckhardt's Civilization of the Renaissance in Italy. But what we have effectively done is stretch cheeto bag literacy so broadly and so thinly that all the Burckhardts suffocated under it, and all things previously requiring literacy (civil service, scholarship, high culture) are now staffed by golden cheeto finders.

An analogous process has taken place with "information."
