Anybody else switch back and forth between being obsessed by literature and music?

No, I quit listening music around the age of 22. It's all boring and the same shit. Listened to some retrowave back in 2016 but it all went boring rather quickly too.

Sometimes I get hooked onto certain songs and listen to them over and over for weeks but I don't listen to music like as a hobby. Currently this

It's a bit of a cliche answer but my favourite filmmaker is Andrei Tarkovsky. Any 1950s 60s 70s European art cinema really. Especially France (Melville, Bresson, Rohmer) and Italy (Fellini, Antonioni, Visconti). Japanese films from that era are good too (Kurosawa, Ozu, Mizoguchi, Naruse). Recently i've been watching Nuri Bilge Ceylans films which i've enjoyed a lot. His film Winter Sleep is based in part on a Chekov short story and a subplot from TBK. Bi Gan is another good contemporary filmmaker. If you want something else /lit/ related, Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, Naked, and Russian Ark are all very good, very /lit/ films but for different reasons.

Pleb detected. Go listen to a Volen Sentir set and try saying that shit again. But maybe you dont have any mental access to this type of music. Organic house has an amazing spectrum of producers and sounds. Americans usually have no idea what good music actually is, unfortunately for them. Go try some dub techno too. None of what I am talking about is bland boring.
Tim Green's When We Dip and Volen Sentir's ll are the hot sets at the moment. Never too late to broaden your horizon anon. Good luck.

Also go listen to Jon Hopkins - Light through the veins. All versions are amazing. The downtown lights remix made me cry every time the first dozen of times I listened to it. They even have a 800% slower version which is great for reading. If you cant into this it is a (you) problem. There is so much amazing music being released every week, its insane, even more so since covid.

Yes, it's literally all the same shit, tunes, beats, effects as in any other electro. Just an endless stream of repetitive noise designed to make drugged youth in clubs and at parties or raves pay less attention to their surrounding environment. And the same is true for any other music genre. Music has exhausted its pleasure of novelty for me, there's no point in listening to it. I think the last time I enjoyed music was when I listened Soon It Will Be Cold Enough on LSD back in 2016. And even that is probably more of a drug effect than the music itself being good, since I don't feel any urge to listen to it again.

Random upbeat and a primitive tune overlay, wow, nobody has ever done this before. It makes my ears wither to hear this or any other type music for a billionth time, again and again, in movies, ads, videos, on the radio, at parties - all. the. same. shit.
>you cant into this
See, you keep attacking this strawman, but the thing is not that I "can't into something", rather that this something doesn't impress or interest me.
