Army is the same shit every day, strict discipline, following orders, forced to talk and be have uniformly. I don't see how many good stories can come out of this. Unless you specifically want to write about the daily travails of a military grunt. Hitchiking would bring you in contact with way more unexpected characters and events. Maybe even an ex-army guy who could tell you all you need to know about it, as well as people from all other walks of life. If anything, army seems as activly harmful for a writer aiming at scope and fulness of life, because you will only get acquainted with army shit, while being cut off from different perspectives. Plus, the grueling obedience expected. Nah bruh
