>Robert Lee Frost (March 26, 1874 – January 29, 1963) was an American poet. His work was initially published in England before it was published in the United States. Known for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech, Frost frequently wrote about settings from rural life in New England in the early 20th century, using them to examine complex social and philosophical themes.
>Frequently honored during his lifetime, Frost is the only poet to receive four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry. He became one of America's rare "public literary figures, almost an artistic institution". He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 1960 for his poetic works. On July 22, 1961, Frost was named poet laureate of Vermont.

Not bad. It's haiku-ish in that the poetry is mostly getting out of the way. I think Frost is at his best with short things like this. Hs technique is very mild & self-effacing; in longer pieces he can get a bit bland and dull but for something like this, it's perfect.

I'd agree with that assessment. He's the kinkade of poetry, but still enjoyable if you don't make him to be more than he is, and better than tryhard avant-garde crap we get now, similar to how kinkade, though not amazing, is still leagues better than modern artists who literally fart paint onto a canvas.

Definitely one of my favourites; phenomenal poetry. Makes me proud to be an American as much as a writer.

I think this one is my favourite of his, I want to sing a lot of his songs to my more masculine friends.

Service is based, but he said his own stuff was verse not poetry.

What's the difference? Also maybe he was being modest or a bad judge of his own work.

This is my favorite Poem of the Day I've seen yet.
It's very simple, and maybe not terribly profound, but I think it captures something special about life.
Sure, I can type "cute bird" into a search engine and get millions of photographs, but there's still something precious about moments like this.
The other day a songbird stayed on my birdfeeder when I went outside even after all the others flew off at the sight of me. It just felt really nice that this one little living thing trusted me when everyone else didn't.
I can't help but feel that Robert Frost must have felt quite like I did in that moment.
