The first 100 pages of Shadow of the Torturer is gnarly as fuck - but the rest( through Claw of the Conciliator) has been pretty meh. Is it worth finishing, am I missing some rug that will tie the room together.

I have consistently enjoyed Fear and Loathing throughout my life.

The Sword of the Lictor is where the series launches itself to a masterpiece.

Why do you have to make a thread for us to decide for you whether you should finish a book series?

>> No.20590437

>>20590379

Because books require time to read, thus people often turn to word of mouth to decide whether they are worth it.

Wolfe is an overrated hack, so no.

I remember how Dorcas finally dumps Severian right from the start.
And the alzabo fight, of course.
Not to forget the confrontation with BBEG.

I haven't read the last book yet but the only parts of the book I've enjoyed revolve around dorcus and the bimbo that was killed, some of the metaphysical stuff but the rest is borimg .

That's okay too. Don't feel pressured to read what you don't like. I was just saying how it started boring for me too, but it got much better later on.

SWORD
is a nonstop kinorun. Scene after scene is brilliant and cosy. Great and fun to read, at times heartbreaking at times wholesome. It is one of the first time you actually can feel Sev change. Book 4 is good too, and i enjoyed all of them
But for me, it's Sword.

I hope these New Sun threads aren't bait, it's very entertaining. Please keep it coming.

Okay why would you read a four-book series that spans 1000 pages that you're not sure if you will like or not, just because someone told you to do that? Even a faggot as stupid as you can google this author's name and find out within 20 minutes that he wrote many novels, half of which are standalone and less than 300 pages long, and half a dozen volumes or short stories.
Instead you acted like a brainless NPC faggot and somehow got almost halfway through a story without being sure whether you're enjoying yourself because you're a wishy-washy sack of shit. Do WHATEVER the fuck you want, it will not matter, nothing we can tell you will prevent you from being a gormless retard.

>BBEG
Ok what the fuck is this acronym even for? Reading your post is actually pissing me off. Why not just take the 5 seconds to type out the fucking actual words instead of making everyone fucking go on an investigation to uncover what your stupid fucking acronym nobody uses stands for.

Well, my non-fa/tg/uy friend, BBEG stands for Big Bad Evil Guy, an acronym given to main villains of their respective campaigns. In this case, it's Typhon the Monarch.

No, Wolfe is overrated and a hack.
