That's why I like to read about addiction: the way that it reduces life to these narrowed scenarios where small details take become the limits of your world. Like in the (shitty) show Sharp Objects where the alcoholic Amy Adams takes a large paper bag of 50 ml alcohol bottles and Evian on her trip, or in Infinite Jest where it describes Hal's complex weed-smoking strategy, or how the best reddit drug stories are about all the excuses and improvisations people come up with when struggling to keep their careers somehow shambling along.

All the indescribable rapture-type stuff is boring ('I need to watch porn I MUST'; 'flood gates of my dick blast open'; 'like we invaded pleasure planet'). In trying to describe this purely sensual subjective experience it seems to go against the spirit of prose.
