Remember this book. It will became the main topic of nerd discussion for the next years.

>> No.21312318

Read, maybe a third of it.
All i was imagining were chinks.
Dropped it.

This is the actually worst part of the trilogy. The beginning is needed for the ground of the story. From of this first chapter to the very end is a fucking climax.

You misunderstand me. I didn't drop it because it was bad, I dropped it because it was full of Chinks.

I'm not a big fan of the Chinese, so I'm probably never going to read this book. I just don't like them! If your name is Chinese or otherwise Oriental I'm just not going to read you! Just how it works, I'm afraid. The three body problem is one thing, sure. But there's another problem of 1.2 billion bodies that requires more urgent attention.

Fuck off, Chang. Most people are already aware of it and Obama was hyping it 5 years ago. When it gets its inevitable Netflix adaptation you can shill on /tv/.

>> No.21313411

It's a shit book and a shit series. Mildly interesting premise but fails horribly in the execution, with large swaths of the latter books being written like a history textbook and main characters treating "public opinion" as described by the narrator as the word of god and being highly influenced by it for no good reason. Also ends on a super doomer note that makes you question why you wasted dozens of hours reading the series.

anyone recommend any similar series? I liked the massive scope/timeline and not being able to guess what was going to happen next

That was the only good part. The rest was unlikable 2d characters being despicable idiots. The books are forced meme garbage except the redpills on communication--the footsoldiers were thrown out with the trash lol!

I've read the trilogy in English and listened the audio books in Finnish. Pretty good books.

Best part in the whole series is when that one guy in the second book floats outside a space station window and assassinates a bunch of scientist bigwigs who advocate for old school chemical rockets, because he knows that focusing on new tech is the only way humanity has any chance of surviving. The netflix version will be garbage. China is producing the real live version of book 1 and then an animated series for books 2 and 3.

I just finished book 3 myself and am looking forward to these adaptations.

God, this hit hard.
For some reason, because a chinaman wrote it, I just think it can’t be good.

Not because of his race, but because it’s *china*. I can’t help but think some commie propagandists and censors have been through it.

Feels tainted.
