Cool concept, pretty good first half. Second half felt very lacking. Generally Mishima seemed to be in a position where he was contractually obliged to write quantitiy over quality.

from what I've gathered that seems to be the general consensus. Personally, I loved the whole thing start to finish. People call it pulp fiction but the premise is pure gold and the profundity is there if you look.

It was my first mishima so unfortunately I can't compare it to his "better" works. I suspect the literary critics never liked it because it wasn't "i'm a little secret homo, (don't) look at me, dee, dee—dee dee—dee" again. But then again, what do I know.

He basically wrote it for a laff, this translator is the one that simplifies his language the most aswell

Weird choice for your first Mishima, this wasnt even translated until 2019. Gives you just about zero insight into his prose and general themes aswell.

Make an account on the Fediverse and tell us your nickname. From there you'll make a book-journey, writing a 200 word post everyday about what you read, what you think etc. You don't have to read much but you have to think at least 200 words about it.

I will give you $20.
My orders are that you get in the habit of waking up early, doing weightlifting workouts at a gym for at least an hour 4 days a week, cardio 3 days a week, eating small, healthy meals, showering regularly and keeping yourself groomed, and spending the majority of your free time outside meeting new people.
