My high school crush was like that, what's amazing is that she still keeps it up at 40.
Still wants to 'do art' but never does anything. Working as a drummer I sometimes see her in clubs and it's always a slightly embarrassing reminder of my younger years.

Also she borrowed books from me (the Magic Mountain and something by Philip Roth) and I have long ago written them off and stopped asking for them back.

I guess light proximity to the art world is enough for some people.

The OP pic makes me so sad because my sister and a few of my ex-gfs are like this and they're now all aging into their late twenties and early thirties, and confused that it isn't working anymore. It's like they went from being protagonists of a movie about their life to being ordinary, invisible background characters like everybody else.

It's really as if they don't even have the mental categories to process not being the center of attention. They keep trying to fix the problem by changing their fashion or trying to find a new "character type" that fits their situation, but can't realize the real underlying problem is simply that nobody cares about your style or what twist on the dark academia archetype you are when you're a 29 year old wine aunt who just works a remote job. I've seen them ruin really good relationships with men that frankly would have saved them and given them a new lease on life because the men weren't accepting the "role" they were forcing on them, of mirroring their dark academia academic girl archetype back at them. The men just saw a nice 29 year old girl and wanted to date her, not enable her play to a character.

I wonder how much of women's misery could be prevented if they just got having kids and starting a family out of the way while they were young, so they didn't base their entire identity on the perpetual edging session of "dating." Their behavior reminds me of things I did in my preteen and early teen years, dumb shit that is just funny in hindsight, like how I thought I was going to run away and join the Foreign Legion, or how I wanted to be a cool drug dealer so I lied and told people I sold weed. Women don't have the same character types, but it's the same energy of trying too hard to be "cool" and nobody giving them any honest feedback. But the reason nobody gave me any feedback at 14 is because 14 year olds are stupid. It's normal to give them space to figure things out. These women are 23-27 years old and their entire sense of self comes from the attention they get while dressing up as characters in movies they haven't seen. I've tried telling the women close to me that life gets both more mundane and paradoxically more exciting when you're no longer a twentyish person who thinks the world revolves around them, that somehow the other people on the bus know what movie soundtrack you're listening to on your "earbuds." I've told them that they could be any other college girl archetype and they would get just as much attention, that the attention is because of the "college girl" part of the equation and not the "archetype" part. But I'm just one voice in a life full of social media and ephemeral boyfriends validating them.

If you're a man you can't really get how hard it is for women. A woman hitting her late 20s and realizing she's just some anonymous random worker now is like the pain of going bald in your 20s, times a thousand. It's a freight train of "so this is it, my life is over."

Great, empathetic post. I think, to abstract away from what you're specifically saying about /lit/ type younger women who aestheticize being a intellectual & "indie", women especially as they age, have very different baggage from men. Whereas boys are always taught that they do not have intrinsic value, that their feelings do not matter, etc. girls are socialized to believe they do have intrinsic value because they are young, pretty and pure. As they age and become adult women I imagine it's quite painful to adjust to this, which is something that men cannot relate to at all because their pain comes from a completely different source. At least I think that's the spirit of what you're saying. The only point I'd disagree with is that settling down and having kids will offer your life meaning. I think for normies perhaps it does, but if you are depressed, alienated, not part of the masses I doubt that it helps. This goes for women who are more independent or feminist or less traditional especially.

You would enjoy Rules of Attraction from Ellis and The Secret History from Donna Tart on exactly this subject. Hell, they might even see themselves in the mirror in a way browbeating relatives can't get through. Sign of the times.

Female vanity is hermetic until they have children, it's by design. Age and looks fading comes too slowly, it has to be revealed by harrowing. Men went to war, women had to wonder about dying in childbirth.

>hese women are 23-27 years old and their entire sense of self comes from the attention they get while dressing up as characters in movies they haven't seen
I got a sales job earlier this year and one of the new people who started with me was a woman in her early 40s. She still used terms like "adulting" and believed in a lot of drivel about Odin, Stonehenge and cosmic energies that would make Alan Watts look like Nagarjuna. She also said that she was specially trained in "empathic listening" which involved raising her eyebrows at the middle and nodding constantly at everything you said. It actually made her look like she was being constantly sarcastic.

But anyway, we started this sales job and after two weeks of training we had to make outbound phone calls to businesses. Most of us averaged something like 50 calls a day, and this woman was down at around 25. At lunch, she would show us pictures she had drawn of mermaids and unicorns. At around this point, I learned that she had been living off of benefits (UK welfare) for almost ten years and hadn't worked for that entire time. "Finally", she would say. "I have a real career where I can grow without limits". I leant her £5 once, and she never paid it back. She was fired after two weeks on the phones...

More like, "immature". And yes, whilst this is unavoidable to an extent, I think more masculine influences in men's upbringings would mitigate teenage narcissism, as well as doing away with the concept of a "teenager" as something between child and adult. Teenagers are children and should be regarded as such.

Collecting just to built a collection is gay, it's neurotic caged-monkey tier behavior, if you don't have the instinct to notice that you're fucked on some level. Some guy with a collection of cars is in the same category as a guy collecting funkpops, and the guy buying books daily to show off on social media is no different. Well put, I think. I realized that it is almost a moral imperative to make women aware of when they are being cringe, and they very often are, but their cringiness is immediately forgiven and ignored because they're put on pedestals.
One of my friends recently went on a very failed tinder-date where the woman spoke mostly about some other guy she was seeing, how fun he was and how much she wanted to be with him. Some men will perceive such behavior to be "testing" a man, and I guess you could sort of see it like that, like a litmus test of self-respect, but it's only a test in an incidental way, because I am absolutely convinced it isn't conscious from the woman's side, it's just extreme social autism, on the level of eating your own boogers at a black tie event - precisely because no one has ever socialized them.

Yes. The fact that he needs to publish photos of himself doing an activity means exactly this. If his account is 30 of his best friends and family only it's a bit better but it's a grey area. A more genuine form of this would be posting such an image in a family/friends groupchat as compared to a public account.

My high school crush, who is a cultured rich kid, says she wants to be in the fashion industry but it's been ~5 years since she took the plunge and yet all she has accomplished in this time is
>sporadic modelling for nothing even longer ago
>working at a high fashion store
>opened an evidently failed consulting business
>writing articles for a blog very few people read
She doesn't even post pieces to Twitter anymore like she used to, let alone do any designing or manufacturing of clothing herself.

Most women are somehow content to be perennial consumers, never actually doing anything despite claiming they want to; they stay deluded however about their potential while secretly having given up long ago and just pine for a vastly more cultured husband to come along and save her from herself.

You hit the nail on the head, save for your undue sympathies.

I see so many girls on Twitter larping as this nu-hipster ideal of being really refined and cultivated but also fun, essentially Manic Pixie Dream Girls without the label, but they just live like dolls.

They are single even at age 22, 23, thinking they can spurn the loads of attention they do in fact get from guys who just somehow don't make the cut for them. You would think they're lonely by how much they seemingly can't stop talking about it, but you don't see all the guys in their inbox that they ignore and block. They are holding out for /lit/ /fa/ /mu/ Chads that are evidently not interested in them or not existent, and they don't realize this until they're past Christmas Cake age and are forced to watch younger girls replace them in getting all the attention and their friends slowly but surely find fiances. But they dig their heels in and keep holding out until the Big 3-0 finally hits them and they realize they are truly alone.

I have no sympathy for these women. They attract attention and decide it's not the attention they wanted. Nobody forced them to reject guys out of pocket, whether or not they had the potential to *become* what the women craved. They waited at the finish line for a race nobody was running. They chased after men everyone else was without stopping to ask themselves what made themselves special enough to win. These girls were stuck-up, and now they are stood-up.

Women are brain-damaged creatures whose instincts lead them to self-destruction. They need to be taught the hard way that their place lies in submission: submission to reality perhaps first and foremost. If you want to claim they're human too---well, pain is the only way humans really learn life-changing lessons.

For me it's not so much rejecting men or wanting better, it's that lots of women just straight up lack a personality yet will ghost men like it's nothing.

I mean, imagine a guy who attracts women like pretty women attract men. He has no real interests or hobbies, cannot have an in depth conversation, expects women to carry 90% of any interaction, then ghosts them if they fail at any point to meet his unstated expectations despite him being a manchild who lives at home, doesn't have a job, a car, or even any specialized skills or passions. In fact his whole personality is just silently judging the women that approach him, while bringing absolutely nothing of substance to the table.

We mercilessly tear into men for far less than this. But about twenty percent of adult women are as I've mentioned above, and if you even passingly call them out suddenly you're a bitter mysogynistic incel.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you *clap* worth *clap* as *clap* a *clap* man *clap* comes *clap* from *clap* God *clap* not *clap* a *clap* woman's*clap* snatch *clap*.

To be fair, there's probably an equal amount of guys who are like this except their retort is more in the bitchy whore line. They're a function of a consumerist society with the added bonus of not just isolating technology but also parents who won't let them walk to the store by themselves. All kinds of fuckbois are surprised and enraged that money, looks, clothes or some other extrinsic value didn't give them a more developed personality than an overgrown toddler. There is a reason why PUAs and MRAs tend to have a spiel at the ready for "shit testing", and it's similar to the same reasons women give, and both have a kind of fairytale simplicity to them which appeals to toddlers who don't understand adult relationships.
>tl:dr-- it's a shit human problem not a shit men/women problem, and there's only going to be more of it

Probably, but I don't care about random men or interact with them in any way, so I just meet the vapid women who will talk for hours without saying anything more than "lol" and "how are you?" And I'm tired of pretending I'm the bad guy when I try to spice things up a little bit with an unsolicited dick pick

Forget Men or Women. How many humans fit this criteria:
>no real interests
>no real hobbies
>no car or meh car
>lives with parents or shit house
>works bullshit job (automated in 5-20 years)
>no real goals
>no real skills
>does not produce any real value
>does not really make society better
>only interesting thing in life is consumerism, social media, mainstream media, other bullshit
>does not stand by anything
>fake friends
>eats shitty fast food
>fake persona
>self-centered
>needs chronic validation & approval in order to do anything worthwhile
>worships celebrities and entertainment

And yet fits the bill for most Americans. Most people (men or women) really just fucking suck. Would you want to date someone with the above qualities? Of course not. Now imagine a generation like that all trying to find their true love. What a fucking disaster.

The first five things are just general poverty, I wouldn't really hold that against someone cuz lots of rich people who superficially have a lot going for them are just as vapid and coasting off mommy and daddy.

Everything else is spot on tho. Is it so much to ask for a girl who spends more time following some passion than swiping through tinder looking for the next one night stand?

Yup exactly, and its because men are trained to worship women, as that one poster reveals. If you criticize men its totally fine, because men are just people, and are therefore open to both criticism and praise based on whether they deserve either. But women aren't normal people, they're angels lol, so even if someone like the original posters simply says what everyone's thinking and points out objective flaws calmly, there must be something wrong with him because he's dared to criticize women. Its understandable when women assent to this brainwashing because they perceive it as advantageous for them (although I would argue that in the long run, it isn't, having a big ego tends to bite you at some point) but its really disgusting when you can tell a man sees things this way, like he's just mentally cucked.
