Could we have an Ayn Rand thread, please?

By which I mean, could someone explain to me why she is universally despised on /lit/? I haven't read any of her stuff, but from what I understand she was some sort of elitist, eugenics cat-lady?

Nope

You must be new.

Rand shitstorms are legacy. Go read the rules.

Reported.

Come on. Everyone crosses themselves at the mention of her name. It's got me curious.

There are rules?

>There is to be no discussion of Ayn Rand

Oh man, I was responsible for getting moot to introduce that rule. I feel so proud.

Well, shit. I don't suppose you could allude to why in some sort of haiku or something?

You must be new here.

Rand shitstorms are legacy.

I reported you.

Triple reported.
It's because she is to literature as George Bush is to politics... or maybe as Reagan is. Or Margaret Thatcher.
Or better still, Hitler or Stalin or Mussolini or Pol Pot. Or even all of them combined into one.

You get the idea.

I honestly don't. You're just throwing the names of various nasty politicians at me. What did she say that was so awful? I'll delete the thread if you indulge me.

>>2314824
Please don't delete the thread, then you won't get banned when the mods wake up.

That could be a while. Would this amusing clip of a dog getting cozy change your mind?

>> No.2314838

miguided american progressives hate her for her poor style but the american state does love her for her anachronistic love towards american ideals. what i adore is the warped english which suddenly makes a lot of sense once you've translated it to russian. i also do adore all people who have lived through important events. she witnessed russian revolution! she witness the pogroms conducted by the old regime. she studied philosophy. this does lend weight to her selfish self.

What ideals are those? The ideals of killing everyone and everything in a frenzy of unbridled selfishness and desire for more and more and more?
Neverending consumption?

>> No.2314842

I believe it generally goes like this:

>Mention Rand
>Others claim Rand misinterpreted Nietzsche
>Never explain how
>Pointless arguments
>End in cursing and name calling
>Everyone gets bored and does something else

>> No.2314849

>>2314842
No, Rand threads are just endless "troll" fests.

No one wins, everyone loses.

>> No.2314850

>>2314838

So... poor style + selfish?

People around here are happy to discuss Mein Kampf. I'm sure there's a little more to it.
