I'm reading the first Dune book on audio. I'm kind of obsessed despite the prose and dialogue being, like, pretty bad? Everyone speaks and talks to themselves with an affected air of importance, which I guess is intentional, but it comes off as pretentious and cheesy. Yet I love the lore and imagery and I've heard the sequels are really good, so I'm going to read them all in consecutive succession. The writing is retarded though. In fact I've tried to read Dune multiple times in the past and it was always the writing that turned me off. I'm reading on audio now however and the narrator does a really good job and the cheesiness is more palatable I think because then at least a talented narrator can make it entertaining.

The fields are a bloody. The woods a crimson hearse. Hills and rocks scream out the worst. Gory dead cry out with dread. Scream and scream. Defenseless they reem. Caught up in the abyss of this dream. Praying, praying for the end. When nothing is left. 'Sides justice. And revenge. From the screams of the dead. Justice in the end. Justice for those friends. Those thousands of events. Soiled, spoiled. Stolen, cursed, poisoned, and painted. Bathing, they feed. Breed breed breed. For we must feed. All the trouble we seed. Forget good deeds. You are free. Saith me. Prince of the Free. Land of the Me. Feed your greed. Live free. In these cursed lands of sin. The land of the djinn. Aberrant their discontent as they voice their dissent. Once again they cry out. "The lands once thought first... well they truly be cursed." Every now and then you get a wake up call that makes it clear to you just how fucked up and lost the majority of modern people are. Most are sort of functioning in a strictly biological-economic sort of way, but not well, and every other aspect of their lives is upside down. I had an awakening to this several years ago and it really pushed me to fringes regarding my opinions on modernity, democracy, these sort of things. That, and getting a job on a natural resources mining operation and seeing just how destructive it was. Those really changed my outlook big time.

The smartest thing to do, if you’re not going to study science or engineering, is to study at a small liberal arts college for undergraduate and go to a large research university only if you get a graduate degree. Most undergraduates are not engaging with research and don’t want to. They just want a practical education in the field of their choice. They can get that at small liberal arts colleges. And as for those people in science and engineering, smaller schools are usually better at the undergraduate level anyway.

I am completely disillusioned with everyone and everything. Not only individual humans, institutions or society. The entirety of humanity brings me nothing but immeasurable disappointment anytime i so much as lay my eyes on it. Everyday im forced to go to school, work, about my daily affairs and so on, surrounded by complete and utter imbeciles - people whose entire existence is so devoid of any substance, so empty, so useless and so redundant that it is barely conceivable to me. I simply cannot comprehend how completely lacking everyone around me is in terms of actual humanity. Nothing distinguishes anyone from anyone else. Everyone is completely interchangeable, completely excessive to everything around him. No one leaves so much as an impression on the other. All they care about is merely the satisfaction of their new commercial fixation in the most efficient and pleasurable way possible. No one communicates - the closest to communication they get is the discussion on someone or something popular in mainstream culture. They talk of no history, no ideas, not even of themselves - only of the products which most excites them or the new thing going around. They are completely beyond the notions of objective and subjective, they are empty. Some even try to be funny to the point of being unable to comprehend when you tell them something serious. They become obsessed with comedy until they lose (if they even had what to lose in the first place) themselves. And they are never fucking funny. Comedy requires something outside itself in order to function, a logic, and these retards keep spouting the same self-referential stream of bullshit 24 hours a day without ever getting tired of it, of themselves. I could go on for hours, but i feel it to be futile. Also Houellebecq pic because his work is one of my only consolations in life these days.

Her personality/how many times you've been out with/have you kissed etc etc.

But generally, treat her to a good day, do a lot of fun stuff. Plenty of touching/kissing.
Then you ask her back to your place for drinks and it should go from there.

With a previous girl I was still lived with my parents, so it was hard.
Took her to the fair, sat in the park. Then we walked in the city and I took her without saying anything into this hotel I had already booked in advance. It was one of those Cityhubs so didn't cost much but she was impressed. Fucked her there and had a great night.

It seems obvious to me that the United States of America is in a late Roman Republic period along the lines exegeted by Oswald Spengler. The key departures are the total absence of strong political families and failure of the conservative faction to muster any political vision from the future. The future is coming whether they want it to or not, and they have no answer to the question “what would you have for it?” The best they could muster is an aging billionaire to envisions a sort of country as a stock market and lame duck “populism”. But what is populism in a country where every citizen can become a politician and vote and anyone, from anywhere, can become a citizen. It’s meaningless. Perhaps it’s even the case that non-citizens are voting. They have no answer.

The problem with Conservatism, and the Right more specifically, is that it has just become everything that isn't current day Left-Liberalism. It isn't one thing or another, its this mongrel alliance of dissonant compromises.
Liberalism acquires and holds power by producing and satisfying appetites of all kinds, often symbolically and meagerly, but nonetheless that is its modus operandi and all the different strands converge on that one goal eventually. In contrast conservatives and the conservatives seem to be locked into a permanent state of identity crisis after ceding so much territory to the left yet still, by definition, needing to oppose them somehow.

Well, yeah I think it has been but America is of particular interest only because it’s so obvious a potential nucleating empire even though it really shouldn’t be. It’s really important for seeing what Spengler got wrong and what Spengler got right in regard to worldview. But more interesting is the political particulars in America. If Spengler had been totally right, we should be living through a time in America of political titans, the most notable politicians there have been. And yet, politicians run by the biggest clowns thus yet seen in politics. Similarly, Spengler predicted a certain surge in conservatism and socialism. We see neither in America. There’s no genuine conservatism in America. What passes for conservatism is basically confusing a wealthy business class for landed gentry and exaltation of neoconservatism, capitalism, and liberalism, which just a helpless political ideology. There’s just no appetite for socialism, not even Spengler’s ethical socialism rather than economic socialism, at all.

I don’t think that’s entirely accurate. I think it’s right to say that people who abandon or have been abandoned by mainstream Democratic Party politics end up on the so-called conservative faction. But I think we’re making a mistake in confusing this disparate faction with its core ideology, which has never changed. It’s a modified look back at the founders, at evangelical Protestantism, and at classical liberalism, which is just so obviously at this point a totally helpless political ideology given its opponents and environment. The broad left accepts legislation as a tool not to preserve its rights but to further its political aims. The broad right basically thinks the law needs to be restored to either some historical idea such that everyone can just be left alone. The right is broadly irreligious and so it can really only appeal to the politics of the period c. 1776 to 1945, with the exorcising of confederate and Nazi politics obviously. So what are you left with? You’re left basically a sort of lame duck liberalism that allows for dominion of a moneyed business class as the people who inherit an abolishment of aristocracy and ideology. The right has so many functional problems and it’s just totally failed catastrophically to put forward any political solution whatsoever.

Also I think a huge, but not yet obvious, split is that the techno-managerial class is moving away from the idea of a man as an "Ensouled Being" towards man as an assemblage of drives, desires, instincts, reflexes that don't amount to anything more, and that these things can be gamed or "solved". The idea of personhood is quietly dying among certain types, and that is interesting because this then denies the grounding assumption for both the Left and Right wings of Liberalism, that a Person is a real thing.

I'd argue the current craze regarding social issues (Niggers, trannies, etc) IS an expression of ethical socialism. Just ethical socialism as wielded by 80 IQ negroids and mentally ill transexuals. In a very vile way, they are expressing their will-to-power and gazing at the (wretched) future.

Marius was famous for popular appeals to non-citizens. As soon as non-Romans were recruited as soldiers Rome was doomed. His cousin Caesar used the same tactics to take power and fill the senate with Celts. The republic was Roman but the empire was multicultural with immigrants from all over the empire constantly flooding Rome.
The constant new resources to exploit from conquest and immigrants meant parasitical elites always out competed those that actually took care of their area and local people like the optimates promoted.
It's the classic problem of a superior and sustainable strategy being dominated short term by a strategy that relies on huge reserves of some kind of fuel external to the system.
America has been relying on external fuel from the start, it was never close to sustainable.

Hitler faced, foresaw the fall of the West, and wanted to prevent this fall, to create a German Reich of 1000 years, furnished with Nitzschean strongmen.
Julius Cornelius Sulla was no different, he foresaw the fall of the Roman Empire, wanted to prevent it, wanted to bring back the Patriciate to it's old state of complete dominance over the plebs and the entourage, and far from making legislations to lessen the rights of the Plebeians, he faced the problem at it's root, killed hundreds of Patricians so that nothing but strongmen would be left among them.
Hitler and Sulla were alike, they only differentiate in timeline and therefore the social and technological means they had at their disposition. The core idea remains the same. Sulla wanted to save the Roman Patriciate, whom he thought creator and absolutely necessary for the mantainment of Roman culture so as to not let it die, Hitler wanted to save the Germanic race, whom he thought creator and necessary for Western Civilization to remain alive.

I have read Spengler, disaccording to your prejudice. And my assumption gives very precise results. Although Sulla was a dictator, Rome at that time was still formally a Republic. He was just a sort of pre-Emperor before the beginning of the true Roman Emperors. He ruled in the years 82-79 BC, the Roman Empire becoming in the year 27 BC. The Roman Republic would have become 482 years old at that time. That gives us a span of 52 years between Sulla and the end of the Roman Republic, the beginning of Caesarism.
Hitler's rule ended in the year 1945. From then until the year 2024, 79 years have passed.
If life expectancy in Ancient Rome was about 33 years, and now it is about 80 years, that gives us a span of 1.66 generations from Sulla to the beginning of the era of Caesarism.
Likewise, from the end of Hitler's rule until today, exactly one generational span has passed, leaving us with a period of about 56 years, around the year 2070 whence the era of Caesarism will begin in Western civilization.

The obvious turn to degeneracy and loss of virtue and normalcy in Western countries. There has clearly been a corruption of the youth of Athens and the polis is going mad. White people run seminars on how to abolish whiteness and we construct altars to Satan in government buildings. People kill their unborn babies, have loose sex, basically do everything which from a traditional Western point of view you’re not supposed to do, everything, as much as possible, and it’s more than occasionally enshrined in law.

I believe that people do have obligations, but obligations have to be earned in some way. For example, would anyone think a child has an obligation to a parent that sexually abused them? Maimed them? Tortured them? Obviously not. Why? It should go without saying that certain transgressions can make that obligation undue.

This is all I got, socio-scientifically speaking, but it doesn't refer to the Jews specifically but to all Semitic peoples in general.

THIRD BOOK.
CIVILIZATION RADIATING FROM CENTRAL ASIA TO THE SOUTH AND SOUTHEAST.
CHAPTER I.
The Aryans; the Brahmins and their social system.
I got to the time when Babylon was stormed by the Medes. The Assyrian Empire will change both form and their way. The sons of Cham and Sem will cease to be at the forefront of nations. Instead of founding and leading states, they will now shape the corrupting bottom. An Aryan people appear on the stage, and allowing themselves to be better glimpsed and judged than the branch of the same race wrapped in Egyptian alloys, it invites us to consider closely, and with the attention it deserves, this illustrious human family, the noblest, undoubtedly, of the white extractions.
It would be to expose oneself to put this truth in an incomplete day, to present the Medes, [...]

Basically the Semitic peoples, according to the theory, were once purely white, as handsome and intelligence in appearance as the Greek statues and the Germanics of the 5th Century, but in an era much earlier than them. We are talking about the times of Gilgamesh.
They moved from somewhere in Upper Asia to the Middle East and conquered a bunch of niggers.
Long story short, thousands of years passed, and the centuries had produced a population of brown half-wits fighting with some advantage against the debrises of the ancient whites.
Once the white elements had become fully dissolved within this melting pot of races, and no pure white element further residing within the mixed populations, no governmental principle could further become establishable. The region of the Middle East, chaotic, disorganized and crime ridden as it seems to us today, was no less different during the Macedonian times, an era where, according to the theory, the last white elements were long time lost and forgotten.
So the Middle East and North Africa as a whole was and is populated by a gigantic mass of innumerable peoples incapable of governing themselves and who are complete and utter degenerates, a judgment the moreso severe if they would not have at least a religion, last and happy memory of happier times.
To better grasp the topic explained above, this mass of Semitic people, large as it is, and englobing millions and hundred of millions of peoples, naturally migrated, not only today, but throughout antiquity, to places like Europe, South and East Asia.
There, they have, from very ancient times, built the corrupting segment of the population wich corrupts and degenerates everyone who mixes with them almost instantly by the number of mixtures the Semites have already accomplished themselves if I have made myself explainable.

And I don't know wtf you're talking about. Sure, many Semites are firm believers in the Muslim faith. Does that make them any less morally corrupt? No, and they are one of the most morally corrupt people in the world. They have long lost any ideal of virtue. Their better parts, and I've dealt with a fair share of Semites, Anterior Asians, whatever, loan for nothing but a vague idea of masculine strength. In everything else, lying, thievery, everything is a legal term to attain wealth or prestige, much like among niggers, minus a somewhat larger sense of individuality.

just finished doing my taxes this year, feels good burgerbros

>haha u have to do ur own taxes in my country they do it for us

imagine trusting the state to keep track of things that decrease your tax bill each year, that is such a conflict of interest, like trusting a used car salesman to cut you the best deal, fat chance. i pay the absolute minimum legally required amount for taxes permittable by law every year, no more no less, using a variety of different losses to offset gains/income + deductions. uncle sam does not get a penny more than me than he needs to. every citizen pays taxes, but every citizen shouldn't have to pay any more taxes than they need to. this is what the freedom of doing your own taxes gives you, otherwise it's highly likely you're overpaying. no wonder other countries are so poor, too much faith in the state and not in their own hands with God's grace

just frustrates me how people typically dread having to do their own taxes, when this their chance to set the record straight with uncle sam over their own money that was taken from them ahead of time. Getting your own money back taken from you!

Good post. I translate classics, philosophy and theology to my mother language and my income slowly grew to 2*minimum wage in my country. I published erotica once because I desperately needed money. A hastily written 7k words short sold much more than a combination of Saint Francis's Writings (with a biography and footnotes), the Little Flowers of Saint Francis, and Descarte's Discourse on Method.
I dreamt of being a writer in childhood. Managed to get published on a magazine but got less than 4 loaf of bread's worth. Then started translating for the money.
Won't go back to erotica.
Will never do marketing.
My cope is that, at least, if I ever return to writing, I will be doing it because I want it and, since my income comes from other sources, I'll be able to write whatever I want for whoever I want.
It's sad, honestly. I have no point to make. I don't think it's possible to be a full time writer until you have enough passive income, and even then, you'll always have to deal with the fact that, while you're reading a lot and having ideas and editing, someone can throw up a vampire CEO BDSM 7k short story, publish it as Horror and Literary Fiction, and make more in a month than your book made during its whole existence.

Our best hope for the future is that the snake will devour itself.

if you don't know what you're doing, you pay people like me to do things for you. not trying to be rude or disrespectful, but saying you want things to be easier is just laziness: you are saying you want to get ripped off just so you don't have to deal with it. listen, i'll tell you how to get ripped off: just pay an accountant so you don't have to deal with this, same effect as what you want, higher costs from more convenience

>>23172521
the government by definition can never be competent. not once, ever in the entire history of the human race has a government been competent. some are more functional than other sure, but even in ancient rome there was tax fraud and tax shenanigans and all kinds of financial money printing like that time they mixed different metal alloys into their coins to dilute gold and silver

the bottom line and how the world works historically speaking, is the state will do its best to rip you off. and you gotta fight back, or pay people to fight back for you, financially speaking. and if you can't even be bothered to pay a guy to do your taxes, that's more reflective of the kind of lazybones society people idolize instead of one built on industry and self-reliance

Got into a debate slash argument with my dad over Christmas holidays. I was raised Mormon and now I'm done with it all and when I laid out my reasons he actually teared up a bit. I felt like total shit but I held my ground.
I'm not as close with my mom but I think she knows. She messages me from time to time asking how things are going and giving me little updates about how the rest of the family is doing, but as the years have gone by it's become less frequent.
My older brother is a dyed-in-the-wool hardcore Mormon like my parents and probably thinks I'm going to Hell. He's kind of autistic, which can be endearing sometimes, and he has a wide range of very technical interests which I like to hear about. Unfortunately I barely ever see or talk to him and he goes to school a thousand miles away. I sent him a birthday text a couple months ago and he never replied.
My oldest sister is around a year and a half younger than me. She's going for a psych major at an extremely Mormon college in Idaho. We were close as kids but drifted apart as teenagers. Last year while passing through the area I took her out to Yellowstone to try and spend time with her but I feel like she never really opened up to me despite my efforts.
My youngest sister is my favorite sibling and the fact that my relationship with her is just as non-existent as the rest is painful to me. She's energetic, probably smarter than me, driven, full of life. I think she's also done with Mormonism since she hasn't been going since she moved out for college but I don't really know and it feels incredibly hard to reach out to her to ask. When I wished her a happy birthday she at least said thanks, so there's something, I guess. Sometimes I lie awake at night full of anxiety over the thought of her getting hurt or getting wrapped up in something bad.
My youngest brother is something of a zoomer/gen-alpha stereotype; he has a discord, games all day, started putting weird pronouns in his steam bio. He's actually a lot more social than me or my older brother, somehow. I have a really hard time talking to him because I just never know what to talk about besides gaming. Some nights I also get really anxious about him and I wish I could have been a better role model for him as he grew up.

Lately when I visit home I end up feeling like a massive burden and outsider compared to everyone else in the family, who seem to have a bond I'm excluded from, or that I was simply never aware of until recently. All I end up thinking about as I toss and turn in my old bed is how I really just ended up causing trouble for these people, how they deserved someone better as a family member, how my relationships with each of them have slowly withered over the few years since I moved out.

I'm pretty sure being the most miserable I have ever been for 4 months straight might be the most important thing that has ever happened to me/

I'm reluctant to call whatever the hell I've been feeling "depression," because I don't think i'm clinically anything. Ill just say that ive felt as though im dragging an anvil everywhere i go. Everything is grey. Getting up in the morning is hard. Working is hard. Finding joy in anything that i used to find joy in, hasn't happened in a long time. Some days I just want to breakdown, but I dont even have the emotion to do that. The only thing I feel is bitterness. I was, and still am to some degree, in a bad way.

And I think that's going to make my life a lot better.

I've never been an overly empathetic person. If you're an alcoholic, just stop. If your fat, stop eating. Unless your wife just died or you just got put on the street, I probably didn't think things were that bad.

Now, after feeling the crushing reality that is everyday life, I understand it all. How isn't everyone an alcoholic? How isn't everyone self medicating? In fact, my life isn't even bad. I have lots of things to be thankful for. I know people with less. I used to find a lump on my body, and think the worst. Every time I got a call from the doctor saying it was nothing. Well, for lots of people, that lump is something to worry about and the doctor has some bad news. Everyone is going through that, all the time. And still, people give up their seat on the metro. They get up and go to work everyday. They keep moving. I never understood the pain that everyone has to live with, and now I understand a bit better.

>> No.23172918

>>23172912

I also picked up, what I hope will be some good habits. As I alluded to earlier, I learned that self medicating is not a great long term solution. I slowed down on the booze alot, and I think that will be a good thing. But nothing was a magic cure. I forced myself to work out, eat a bit better, call the few people that I love. That all helped a bit, atleast temporarily.

I even opened up the bible. I never considered myself an atheist, but l hadn't been to church since I was about 14. I got confirmed and then forgot about it completely. Even then, I was really just going through the motions. For the first time, ive read and thought deeply about what it means to believe in god, and the responsibility that represents. That being catholic is hard work. I think, though Im not sure, that will be an important part of my life.

Lastly, I guess im grateful that it forced me to reeavulate my "purpose" or whatever the fuck you call it. All i know is what I was doing was not it. The jury is still out on if I made the right choice, but I know I have to follow it with all my efforts, and if its not the right choice, recalibrate and try again, and again, and again.

So, although I am still miserable, things seem to be improving, and I think that feeling as low as I did, for as long as I did, might be one of the best things to ever happen. Or maybe things will actually get alot worse.

And it's in conflict with the equal and opposite desire for total freedom (which necessitates the absence of humankind). Anyway, last night it was so intense and there were no ways to make it possible that I was unironically considering calling the police and telling them that something was wrong with me, but that wouldn't make any sense. I think I'm having a semi-breakdown. This ties into my inability to really do something unless I think it's inevitable or expected of me. :l

Well, nowadays the easiest and most obvious way is on dating apps and social media. But excluding that, it’s through your family/social circle, through work/school, and through daily life. Basically, you see a girl you fancy and you ask them for their phone number. Once you have the phone number, you ask to do something together. If you don’t have much of a social circle, you can improve your dating prospects by improving that. Honestly, if you’re totally lost, some of those PUA/Red Pill communities are a good resource. You just can’t get too into them.

Well, if you were a victim, then I guess the best thing to do would be to frame it as once but no longer a victim. I think we let our pasts haunt us to much, whether it’s something we did or something that happened to us. In the end, we are free people with agency and we can direct our own will now and in future. If we choose to let what happened in the past haunt our actions in the present and future, then that is a choice. And we should rather choose for ourselves to be better than that.

I don't think there's as much to the concept of reframing as people think. If he feels like his 20s were stolen from him then just using a different word isn't going to make him feel better. I thought Shakespeare established this in all our psyches.

What did all the sad, lonely, miserable, boring, ugly, spazzy, rizz-deficient, ick-inducing young-ish men that clog up these threads do before the internet? How did their lives shake out? Are they all completely lost to history, a mass grave of weird uncles, or did they persevere and make their mark somehow? I do wonder if the opportunity to wallow in all this mental filth 24/7 is healthy.

I think it's coincident with a lot of modernity. In the past, people like me would die very young from health problems, or if we survived that, die as a result of bullying or suicide related to that, or if not, we'd end up homeless because there weren't government benefits and then die on the streets. Some would choose to join wars and die on the battlefield etc. There used to be such an abundance of death, now people who theoretically should have died a long time ago are living much too long.
Bourgeois crazies would end up those weird literary recluses probably, and they'd wallow all the same in excessive fantasizing.
