Do you have any stories behind the abandoned places? why they were abandoned?

Posting in a Sunhawk thread.

Reading Barthelme's 60 stories. If Tao Lin was funny, clever, insightful and a genius, this is wat ge'd write.

I like abandoned stuff in general, but the one in the OP is especially nice since it was a luxury thing originally and it seems like someone (or more than one) has thrown all the chairs and such into the pool deliberately. I also like the hue of green and how the water level is lower than it should be by neglect and evaporation. Add the interesting ceiling and the patterns by the windows and you have a masterpiece.

Possibly enough to realize how problematic the label of postmodernism is

Don't get me wrong, there are conceptions of postmodernity that have some structural or content features in common, but you can't expect us to immediately intuit the parameters of what you're talking about

My grandpa tried to explain what modern times were like once but I was too young to listen and now he's dead. We need more oral history projects to record the stories of moderns while they're still with us. The modern world was so different from the one we live in I think it's hard for most of us to even imagine what it must have been like.

Listen to your elders, learn about the modern world while you have the chance.
