I disagree. I found Hannibal Rising to be quite enjoyable.

Many don't like his stories. He has odd sarcastic humor, quirky upbeat characters whose personalities don't exist in real life, villains who almost always have a God complex, and prose that constantly switches from purple to bland.
Personally, I love him. His style of writing is pretty much the anti-Stephen King(who I also enjoy), in spite of having similar story ideas.

He could be better. Read two of his but the subtle pro-religion stance he has started become somewhat disagreeable with me.
