Recently finished this. What did /lit/ think of it? I can see why DFW liked it; it is best when it describes human interactions and emotions as if they were subjects of study. I thought it was an interesting way of looking at hell as this place of noise and "realism". One of the few times I've seen Christianity portrayed as 'fun' in some sense.

It wasn't so good when it fell into Lewis complaining about Britain's intellectual climate with inverted language. Broke the suspension of disbelief a little.

yeah, probably the best thing Lewis wrote from a literary standpoint. still nonsense from an apologetics point of view but then who isn't

It's one of my favorite books. Best thing Lewis ever wrote. Read it for the first time in seventh grade and it blew my fucking mind.

Wormwood was a great character, but I found it hard to get over my disagreements with Lewis

That's the mark of a small mind.

Yes, it's a brilliant book. C.S. Lewis is, in my opinion, a genius. He's probably one of my favorite authors.

I get the feeling you're either saying that apologetics is nonsense or that Lewis was absurd, even from an apologetics point of view. I disagree on both points.

>Best thing Lewis ever wrote.
Brilliant book it is. But I hardly think it's his best work.

What do you think the best thing he wrote is? Screwtape definitely has to be up there. It's superior to Mere Christianity, Narnia, Space Trilogy, etc... I suppose Grief Observed was good, but I would still put Screwtape over it, *especially* coming from a literary perspective...

1. chronicles
2.space trilogy
3. screwtape
imo,

All those books you named? Superior to it, in my opinion.
>especially from a literary perspective
Oh, I see. You're one of THOSE.

I am what I am.
