Philosophy SL
Math SL (the higher level one, fuck the pleb shit, forget what it was called but unis required the better one)
French B SL

Graduated 2 years ago, program was a joke. Taught me nothing except that assignments can be completed morning of, studying is for plebs and that only assignments worth 30% or more are worth completing.

Ruined me for university. If you're high school age and considering this, drop it and take the regular stream. It will not make you smarter or a better person.

Considered doing this, then said fuck it im doing AP. Still getting these IB certificates in World History SL,
English HL, and Biochemistry (HL, I think)

and for AP tests:
US History
Calculus BC
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Chemistry
Physics

So, OP -- are you actually wanting to make use of the Diploma by becoming a Eurofag, or are you just wasting your time and energy with IB?

I live in the Channel Islands
It was this or A-levels (four then three subjects) and I couldn't decide

Also it's a bit of a novelty here, I'm part of the third cohort to take the diploma here, and there's only 27 of us.

I'm still wasting my time though.

Sure I have a few:

1) How does the workload compare to uni's workload?

2) I've got 30 days left until finals and have slacked off in quite a few courses. I need to cram lots of material in this period of time. What do you think would be the optimum way to achieve this? Past papers?

University workload is easy in comparison, in terms of hours you spend on studying... (but don't go taking extra credits when you start uni, get a feel for the rhythms first). I went to a really good US state university. Places like MIT might come closer in terms of hours of life lost.

2) Assuming you're the OP. Don't worry about past papers so much.
Chem -- err damn day
English -- get familiar with your possible selections for orals. at this point you're not gonna improve your essay portion. ask yourself if you really know your books. good to remember some past theses which you can synthesise on the exam for free.
History -- general trends, fuck dates in general. Analyse shit with OriginPurposeValueLimitation to appraise documents. worry more about material than theories of history, save that for college.
Maths -- depends on you.
Italian -- ab initio not that comprehensive. know your weaknesses. composition probly more helpful than rote for nailing down stuff.
Philosophy -- no idea, we didn't have enough money at my school for phil, so unfamiliar with the exam.
Try structuring papers in pop-hegelian format if possible (point, counterpoint, synthesis)

>> No.3598040

Also, the not-top-level Maths people do suprisingly well on. Can't say the same for the top level. Also HL chem is often devastating. Really apply yourself here if you doing STEM in college. You will be happy you did.

I would ask your professors how to study now, since most of those are unfamiliar to me. If you been doing really well through the whole program at school, then you will not need much study now, but just a little review.

Finals were so fucking easy.
Did literally nothing all through the program and did not start looking at bio or chem textbooks til the morning of the exam.

Did not study even one bit for math, philosophy, english or french. French exam was easiest thing on planet, over 66% of my class finished with a 6. On English paper 2, I literally invented plot. Still got a 5.

IB was easy as fuck

finished with 33.

Yes, I did take it. That's how I know it's basic.
I'm well aware of the syllabus, I took the course. It was incredibly simple. If it doesn't seem simple to you, you don't belong in university, you will not succeed.

It covers only the fundamental ideas behind chemistry, and operates on a blanket level, giving rudimentary information on as many subjects as possible. It gives THE BASICS. That's what basic means.
