>tfw stopped masturbating five days ago and have already done more reading than in the entire month of April

Holy crap, just five days and I already feel like a new man. Was /pol/ right about porn being a tool of the Illuminati mafia?

Internet porn definitely played a big part in the sissification of our society, together with Facebook, cheap entertainment and bringers of instant gratification in general.

Sexual desire is what drives men. Yes. Everytime you masturbate your brain signals your body that you've achieved what you were made for, reproduction. Therefore there is not longer any need to read, create art, train or any of the subsequent tasks we do in order to attract the opposite or same sex.

Placebo effects are not intangible, and you are incapable of distinguishing them yourself objectively, at least when you're dealing with something like mood or feelings.

A placebo can result in actual improvement in a subject, as well. It's a surprisingly powerful phenomenon.

When you're focused on not fapping, you're committing yourself to self-discpline. That same commitment results in more focus and discipline elsewhere, hence mental clarity.

Setting a goal does this for most people. It could be taking up weight lifting or gunning for a promotion.

The problem with a placebo effect is that it doesn't always last in the long term, but it all depends, if you started exercising more after starting doing this that can lead to long term benefits.

God I hate psychologists, they always talk about human beings as though they are soulless machines that just need the right inputs to "function properly"; reading the psychologists view of human nature makes me feel so bad about myself, it leads me to low self-esteem. And then whenever I express low self-esteem it's always the psychologists that come running to my rescue and I have to say, "no, YOU cause the problem. If I hadn't read your morbid shit about how bad it is to have "low self-esteem" then I probably would never have developed it in the first place!"
I swear these psychologists do their best to make men mentally sick so that they can be paid to make them well again, and invent false problems in the "mental lives" of men so they can be paid to dish out diagnoses.

>I swear these psychologists do their best to make men mentally sick so that they can be paid to make them well again, and invent false problems in the "mental lives" of men so they can be paid to dish out diagnoses.

It's not so much that they do it to make a buck, but that every psychologist is looking to make his mark on academia with original research, and in addition every one of them has their own pet niche research interest that they are totally focussed on and that they always insist is important enough to be made into its own condition. So because of internal politics the number of psychoses just keeps increasing.

>> No.3778196

Well, you completely misrepresented what I was saying.

I don't think lying about this is a good idea, It can also be quite harmful. For example, many people are prescribed statins to lower their cholesterol when the actual and the most effective treatment would be healthier diet and exercise. The medication makes people think that they can get healthier with every pill and continue living the same way, when the real benefit would come from lifestyle changes.

You're under the impression that nofap is the SOLE method that exists to help with your mental issues, and that's just false. You mistakenly putting your eggs all in one basket and I took it away and it's somehow my fault.

What's your issue? Social anxiety? CBT therapy exists, medication exists, exercise helps with this, even MDMA can help with that. It's not like nofap is the only treatment to the problems it's supposed to solve

>> No.3778224

>>3778181
I'll add a little bit more to this.
The ancient Christian's were able to console and encourage and thus make more healthy those who were sick by telling them they were loved by God.
The modern psychologists, conversely, are able to convince people who are healthy to feel that they are sick by causing them to anxiously self-aware of how "self-confident" they are, always checking to see how their self-esteem is doing, much in the same way that people criticise Christianity for by saying it invents the idea of the soul and sin so as to make men anxiously self-aware of how they don't measure up to God's standard. All we've achieved here is to move away from the standard of God to the standard of a narcissistic consumerist society, because it is no doubt the values of a narcissistic consumerist society that torment the ego of the self-esteemer much in the same way that the values of Christianity tormented the soul of the sinner.

>> No.3778247

>>3778196
Nah, I don't think nofap is the only way to deal with my mental issues, before making that assumption I would like somebody to prove that I have mental issues to begin with.

Another thing I would like to add to the Christian parallels I've been drawing, is that at least in Christianity they are forthright about their ideal of health - the ideal of the Saint with a pure soul.
What is the psychologist's ideal of health? Surely he must have one, otherwise he wouldn't be able to tell if he were making men more sick or more healthy, that is if he didn't have a clear idea in his head about what it means to be healthy. So where is this picture of health that a good, honest secular man is supposed to aim for. "A healthy man has an active libido, has a positive (but not unrealistic) view of his self-worth, and clear, achievable goals that he sets for himself." How charming a picture if humanity that is.

Should i stop masturbating?

I just did. I came like a meter in distance, and I feel all drowsy now.

Maybe, if i stopped masturbating, i would read more, because I wouldn't be so groggy all the time.

It is just, the reason i masturbate is because my sexual urges can be so distracting that I just have to get it out of my head. If haven't fapped for some days, and get an erection out of chance (it's bound to happen), i literally cannot think of anything else. I'm flirting with this girl as well at the moment, and it's pretty much in the air that we're going to have sex, I just feel like theres an inferno inside me, I feel like I have to masturbate, or I'll go insane.

I'm nineteen by the way, it might be some spring hormones, but it might also be a serious problem. I get frightened by how horny I get some times.

I don't think women understand the male sexuality in the way that it can also be an urge that you'd rather be without.

>> No.3779660

>>3779559
There's nothing wrong with fapping (no porn or other artificial aids) when the urge arises. The problem is with artificial arousal and fapping out of boredom or as a coping mechanism and escapism.

Also, the need to be 'productive' is a nonsensical spook beyond a certain point. "The cry of the flesh is not to be hungry, thirsty, or cold; for he who is free of these and is confident of remain so might vie even with Zeus for happiness."

I mean pornography playing a part in achieving a boner. It's this type of unlimited externally triggered semi-arousal that turns young men into lab rats with their own dopamine dispenser button and leads to the burned out drowsiness and apathy. The best way to regulate this is to cut out pornography and the like altogether.

A porn induced boner is something other than a naturally induced boner, just like the munchies are different from hunger.

>> No.3779716

right, i see. but for me the porn only comes after the boner, which is still generally a daily occurrence.

Why are you inhibiting that natural urge to ejaculate? Of course in excess its bad for your libido and such. All Im saying is that there are better ways to feel like a new man, the most minimalist is meditation. Its like free drugs.
