Why does /lit/ talk so much more about sophisticated literature than /tv/ talks about sophisticated film or /mu/ talks about sophisticated music? And why isn't there a board for art general? I got banned for making a sculpture thread.

Are you this fucking stupid?
Go to /ic/ if you want sculpture, I'm sure they'll love you

It's just Deviant Art.

>/mu/ talks about sophisticated music?
How do you define that? Film I can guess, but music is so broad and so is the discussion on /mu/ (in between the shitposting).

You were probably banned for being a cunt. There's lots of off-topic, barely /lit/ threads that get plenty of traffic, including art threads. Adding more boards will produce stagnant backwaters that will increase moderator overhead. There is already several art boards although they might choke at fine art. There's also no history board, or philosophy, or geology or a whole host of other potential boards.

There is more sophisticated literature than sophisticated TV and even sophisticated music isn't that plentiful (i'm listening to Große Fuge but its sophistication is not a big issue for listening)

Music that will be considered genius two hundred years later.

No, they said it was for starting a sculpture thread, which is off topic.

>There's also no history board, or philosophy, or geology or a whole host of other potential boards.
Geology is classed with science.

Can you imagine how shit a philosophy and history board would be on their own? A philosophy would draw a bunch of new age stoners who aren't crazy enough to be part of /x/, and a history board would just be blooded by a bunch of military fanboys asking 'who would win in a battle between x and y'

If you browse /lit/ frequently you'll see that the posters are about as clueless as /mu/ or /tv/ posters when it comes to discussing their hobby in depth. Literature is just a more prestigious tool of social distinction which is why you think they're talking about "sophisticated literature"
